I have been approved for surgery!

Hi all! I haven't been on here in quite awhile. I asked my family physician to send off a letter to refer me for weight loss surgery and haven't really followed it up as I had been dealing with issues relating to my cancer recovery. Anyway, I called my doctor's office last Wednesday and they advised that they faxed out my request in February and gave me a number for the Bariatric Clinic in Toronto. I called them and they advised that my request gets forwarded to the clinic I live closest to. So I call Ottawa hospital & speak to Lana who advised they had just tried to call me the Friday before for the first time. I gave them my updated number & asked how long it usually takes. She advised that it's about a year or so, and I ask is that from when you receive my request, she said yes (so they received it on Feb 4th). But then she realized that I am on 2 lists and checked further and said that because they are a new centre that they are backlogged and said that my name was one of the names on a list to be referred to Humber for surgery! Apparently Humber is desperate to fill OR times and Ottawa is happy to forward some of their referrals. I was so excited, she said it will be about 2-3 months for me...then I hesitated and said that would put me up to the year I would've had if I do it in Ottawa. She then told me that I am on the first list of 50 and that I will probably be having the surgery earlier. So she was about to send the package off to Humber and now I am anxiously awaiting their call. I think I am going to try and call tomorrow as I am so excited, I am hoping to have a surgery and get the next part of my life going as a smaller and healthier person!!!
