I have battled obesity to varying degrees all my life!! Now that I am getting older(38) I am concerned about the effects of my weight on my health. Having strong genetic pre-disposition to diabetes on both sides of my family, and also having gestational diabetes during one of my pregnancies, I knew I had to do something  to give me the best fighting chance to beat genetics!! I want to be around to enjoy my children into adulthood and to enjoy my grandchildren as well.

I have considered wls and researched everything under the sun before deciding on RNY and going to the united states to have it done. I live in a remote northern community where there is a terrible doctor shortage and no surgeon. (To be quite honest, I want a surgeon who knows what he is doing and bariatric surgery is his specialty, not some doctor who does it occassionally!! There are way too many risks involved to trust my life to someone who is not competent.) Therefore my decision was to go to Henry Ford Bariatric Centre.  I am having surgery on March 19 and can't wait!! I am so excited and hopeful for years to come!!!

March 22.2007 Well we did it!! My daughter and I  have completed Roux N Y surgery at Henry Ford Bariatric Surgery Center!!!!! My daughter had a few complications that landed her in ICU(which nearly killed me with worry) but with lots of prayer from all those who have supported us she came through with flying colours!!! We officially have taken our seats on the loser's bench!!! WOOO!!HOOO! It feels great to be here. We are totally excited to see what life has in store for us!! Here's to the future!!!!!
