My How Time Flies!

Jun 18, 2008

I can't believe I am roughly 2.5 months post-op! Time truly does fly!

Well, as I tell those who know I have had the surgery: So far, so good! No major complications and I'm down 23 pounds. I won't lie: I wish I'd lost more weight by now, but I guess I'm pretty close to the 2-pounds-a-a-week mark.

Had my first fill on June 17th. Got 3 ccs in my 10 cc band. Didn't hurt at all. Doesn't feel much different though. I guess I am less hungry between meals, but I have come to realize that I do actually have 'head hunger' that so many WLS patients talk about.

I've started going to the gym. I have committed to go three times a week at a minimum. It's a start! I just go and use the treadmill. The gym has tons of other stuff to do, but I want to see if I can actually go, three times a week, for at least two months before I start exploring the other things they have to offer.

I have a long journey ahead of me! I keep trying to remind myself that I didn't gain all of this weight overnight. I guess it's definitely a 'one-day-at-a-time' process!

It's A Date

Feb 12, 2008

If all goes well (pre-op tests and all), I will be the first surgery of the day on Friday, April 4th.

I won't lie: I am excited and a little nervous. Not too nervous though. I have always been a good surgical patient. I had a herniated disc that required surgery 14 years ago, had a c-section in February of 2003 and had my gall bladder out 2 years ago. Healed well and quickly, with no complications, in all cases.

51 days and counting!!!!

Getting ever closer....

Got my approval from CIGNA on Monday 2/4/08. Spoke with Latasha at Dr.Averbach's office. I'm going to a pre-op class on Monday -- for two hours! Of course, I need to get all pre-surgical bloodwork and the chest x-ray, but as of our conversation, Dr. Averbach has openings in the last two weeks of February!!

Keep your fingers crossed!
