4 months out

Mar 22, 2015

I'm just over 4 months out. I didn't make my goal of Onederland for St. Patrick's Day, but I'm very close!!! 200.2 this morning! I am the slowest loser in the world but I'm hanging in there. Still waiting for the weather to get better. I have been able to start walking outside but the weather won't stay consistently nice!! I'm having a problem with the fact that my taste buds have changed. Nothing tastes good to me. I eat my protein because I AM hungry but I'm searching for something that I enjoy eating. Cheese is my favorite but if I eat too much of that I get constipated. I do still do a protein drink a day. Still in size 16 pants although they have gotten a smidgeon looser!! LOL! Everyone says don't compare yourself to others, but it is so hard to see people who had surgery the same time as you that have lost double and triple the amount of weight you've lost. I have to remember......I am old....63!

12 Weeks Post-Op

Feb 10, 2015

12 weeks out and still plugging along. It's still very slow for me. I've lost 5 more pounds since my last post and it has been 5 weeks. I think I need to get more exercise. I was getting a regular treadmill workout and then my knees started acting up and I haven't been as regular. Can't wait until Spring so I can get outside. This winter is so cold!!I stick to the diet well, but just seem to stay the same. Of those 5 lbs, 3 came off in one day about two weeks ago. So most days I feel like I'm making no progress. I see my surgeon on Thursday this week, and I'm anxious to see how he thinks I'm doing. I know I feel a lot better with these 35 lbs off but because of the slowness I'm still not a believer I'm ever going to make it to goal. I can fit in size 16 pants now so that's an NSV!! My latest goal is to make it to Onederland by St Patrick's Day!!!! KEEP ON PLUGGING!

7 Weeks Post-Op

Jan 05, 2015

Just thought I'd check in with an update. Today is 7 weeks since my surgery. Things are going fine. I've had no physical problems what-so-ever but I'm still waiting for that" I'm so glad I had this surgery feeling." I have lost 30 lbs but it seems so slow to me. I'm in my second stall and I'm so impatient. I want to eat! I don't enjoy anything I have. No meat tastes good. I'm craving flavor and really missing things with crunch. Nothing to do but hang in there. Wish I could get in the mindset that this is my new lifestyle. It feels too much like a diet.

10 days Out

Nov 27, 2014

I guess I'm doing ok but time seems to be dragging. Physically I'm feeling fine except I move a little slow and I have this constant hunger which makes it hard to get thru each day. I went for my 1 week post op and told the NP( I didn't see the surgeon because of the holiday) that I was hungry. I asked for her to increase the dose of PPI because I read on here that helps with hunger. She said no all I needed was to eat. She added the full liquids, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, SF pudding. 2oz 6 times a day. This has not helped one bit. Guess I just keep on truckin nothing else to do. Trying not to get depressed but I'm feeling really deprived. I did a lot of reading on this site before the surgery and did not come across many people who felt this way. Hope it soon goes away. I underestimated just how hard this is going to be.

8 Days Until Surgery

Nov 09, 2014

Really getting nervous. Obsessed with reading posts on this forum. Can't get enough. Pre-op diet is tough for me and I understand I don't have it as bad as most. I am not full liquids. Mine is high protein, low carb. Protein drink for breakfast and lunch. 2 snacks- high protein. Dinner 6 oz. lean poultry , fish, or pork. 1cup of non starchy vegetable. 1/4 cup starch, 1 tsp. fat. This is Day 7 and I think I've lost 5 lbs. Hope I can make 7 more days. Have to stay positive. So hard for me.

Finally Feeling Real!

Oct 20, 2014

I had my pre-op bloodwork, chest x-ray, ultrasound and final surgeon appointment today. It is really feeling real now!!! I'm a little nervous. Still waiting on cardio approval. Having an echo and thallium stress on Thursday 10/23. I hope they don't find anything that will postpone surgery on November 18.  Apparently my heart rate is low and they seem to be concerned. Heart rate 49. Anyone else have this?
