Almost 4 months out

Aug 27, 2007

Well, I'm almost 4 months out and down 71 lbs.  since surgery, 88lbs. total.  It's really wonderful and I'm enjoying life a lot more than I was.  My body is so less tired although I do feel tired, sleepy tired alot lately.
Everyone is now noticing and commenting, and that feels wonderful.  Yesterday we took our whole family (22 people) picture, and I was actually sitting in front and center and not hiding behind anyone. YES!!!
I still have 60 lbs to go til goal, but I'm already feeling great and just waiting for my kids to go back to school so that I can go clothes shopping and get some clothes that actually fit.  Til next time!

2 1/2 months out

Well, It's been 10 1/2 weeks since surgery.  I'm feeling wonderful!  I've lost 50 lbs since surgery, 70 lbs. total.  My clothes don't fit anymore.  Even my clothes I've saved from years ago are getting loose now.  It is amazing and I'm not regretting my decision at all to have this surgery.  I even bought a new bathing suit size 16.  it's a little small, but it'll get me through the summer.
Some great incentives:
No more carpal tunnel symptoms
Fit on all the rides at the amusement park
Fit better in movie theater seats
More energy
I can walk and don't get achy feet
I can wipe and clean in the shower with no problem
I can paint my toenails with no problem
I can and often do cross my legs
Just some of the things people take for granted that i marvel in daily.
One funny thing is that people who know I had the surgery don't say much, just that i look great,,,,,,,,,which is great, but people who don't know.............I haven't had one comment as of yet, about my weight loss.  Maybe because of courtesy, or I don't know, but it is weird that people wouldn't say something about a 70 lb weight loss. Do they not notice????  Oh, well, I notice and I feel wonderful, so that's what counts!

Getting very excited

Apr 19, 2007

4/20/07

Just 10 days til my surgery. I am getting excited but also nervous. I've written notes to my children and husband, and when I did it made me cry. I dont want to leave them. They need me. That is what makes me so nervous. My own mom died when i was 4, and I don't want my children to grow up without me. But then again, their lives will, as will mine, improve when I can have more energy and self confidence. But still, I'm counting down the days and getting ready. I've had trouble dieting, of course, that is my problem in the first place. I still need to lose 5 pounds before surgery. I doubt that will happen, but I'm sure if I only lose a few more it will be ok. Wish me luck, and I'll post later!
