I am now 7 months post-op and feeling great. I have lost a total of 100 lbs. My pre-op measurements and my 7 month measuresments are below.

TOTAL OF 92 INCHES LOST IN 7 MONTHS! WOW!!! I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE

Today is my 1 month post-op day. I have lost 23.6 lbs and a total of 23 1/2 inches off my body! WOW! When I did my measurements and added them up I was amazed. Here are the results: ALL ARE IN INCHES

Today is Sunday, my surgery was Friday. I don't remember anything from the time I went into the surgical suite to the time I got to my room. I don't remember anything from recovery. i woke up with an N/G tube in my nose. I also woke up with alot of pain in my chest and back. My PCA of Diluaidid never touched it. When the nurse checked my N/G placemnt it wasn't correct, I felt the air in my thraot . so she had to try and shove it back in. yuk. I did 20 laps around the nurses station yesterday. 10 is what they want us to do. i think I overdid it though because I woke up really sore today. They just gave me my first dose of vicodin so I can be weaned off the Diluadid. My pain is up there, especially if I move. I have been so sleepy that I will sit up in the chair and doze, only waking when my head goes to the side.

Sorry if there are any typos I just took the vicodin and I took a dose of Diludid to hold me until the vicodin kicks in.

I am so excited that Friday is soon here. I have no worries, only relief that this is finally happening. I didn't do so bad with the clear liquid diet today. The bowel prep of mag citrate is another story... UGHHH that is so bitter. I mixed it with Ocean Sprays white-cran-peach drink. I have to drink more because of the mix but at least it isn't so bitter. I am almost done I only have a little bit to go but I am past the enough point, I keep getting dry heaves when I take a drink so I am going pretty slow now, just trying to keep it all down. The only person that is going to the hospital with me is my fiancee', he is so nervous I hope he is OK. 



ALMOST ON THE SWITCH SIDE!

If I ever get to sleep tonight, I will have 2 more days of work then I have my surgery! The time has went so fast. I hadmy pre-op Dr appt. today. It waas quick and easy. I just love Dr Rita! She is so positive and optimistc about it all. She told me she thought I would do excellent with the surgery. I am so excited. Tomarrow is my LAST MEAL. It's to bad I have to work till almost midnight . Then Thursday is clear liquids until midnight with the W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L bowel prep. Don't I seem very excited....NOT. Only thing I can say is I will do anything I have to do to become healthy. My fiancee' is still very nervous for me because of his complications. I on the other hand am so excited. It has been almost 3 yrs since I started the journey to get approved for WLS. Well I am off to bed to try and get some sleep. Will update more later......Just being able to write my thoughts done has given me such peace... Thanks to anyone who reads these.

I finally got a chance to get to the store and get a few things I needed to pack. I have read where having underwear a size larger is handy and I also wanted a very comfortable bra for post-op. I got all the dressings and things I will need when I come home and TONS of fluids to have for the clear liquid diet Thursday and for post op. I feel a little better now that I got the basics done. I am packed and ready to go now so I can turn my attention to all the things I need to do for work before my surgery on Friday. I can't believe it's almost here.... I am ready to be done with it so I can begin my new life on my new birthday.

It's after midnight on Sunday here so I officially have 5 days, not counting Sunday, until I go to surgery. I am so excited I can't wait. I am ready to leave this exsistance behind and start my journey on the other side. I got my bedroom prepared and sanitized today so there won't be much for my fiancee' to do while I am in. I will pack in the morning so I won't have to worry about that. My only issue is there was so much I needed to go out and get to be ready this weekend and the snow has put an end to that. I will be very busy the next 5 days trying to gather the rest of my supplies and things I needed before surgery. One of the things I needed to get this weekend was a file cabinent to place at the facility I have my clinical class at so I won't have to lug around books and papers. I am going back to work after 3 weeks and I will be on the weight restriction. Now I have to figure out when to do that. There is still so much to do. All in al it is okay I have so much to do because it leaves little time to worry, instead I am just excited.

It will be great to see if there is any change from the time I have the surgery until I go back to work in 3 weeks and 4 days afterwards. I still can't believe this is happening. Nothing good ever seems to go right but finally it is. I AM SO READY FOR THIS!

Hi everyone! My surgery date has oficially been changed to 3/14/08. 4 days sooner than original date of 3/18/08. That makes it only a week away now! I am so excited and overwhelmed. I was planning on having 2 weekends left to get things ready at home before I go in, now I only have this weekend to do it all because the surgery is next Friday. Wow it is all coming so fast. The great thing about this is I will have 4 extra days to recoup afterwards. Soon I will be a switch sister on the loser's benth. GO ME!

 That is what I think of the Upper GI series with the Barium. It was all I could do not to vomit during the procedure. I knew going into it I may have a problem. I have a very sensitive gag reflex. I am proud that I did most of the 2 different contrasts before I started to dry heave. It was more than I thought I'd be able to get down. LOL. My ABG (blood gases) was first, before the Upper GI today. It took 2 try's to get it, my entire left wrist is bruised. But it wasn't as bad as it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I stings when they do it but the pain goes away. After the GI, I went to ultrasound to have my gallbladder, appendix and liver scanned. My liver enzymes have been elevated for several months now w/o reason and when they did the scan of my liver it burned like crazy, I hope it isn't anything that will stop the surgery. After all of this they took me back and did my EKG and blood work. What sucked was being NPO since 7:30 the night before. I was so thirsty by the time they were done with the tests at 11:30 am I thought I would go crazy.
After the tests they sent us to lunch and we came back to have our class over what was going to happen, what tubes would be in place, respiratory issues and diet. All in all it waasn't a bad day. Some things like the ABG and the GI series I hope I don't have to do again for awhile. The day was long, because I had to go straight to work afterwards but I feel I got alot accomplished. Oh on a good note the office called and wants to move my surgery to the 14th instead of the 18th. I am trying to get ahold of my boss to find out if I will be able to do this before I let them know. It would be great if they can let me off for it because I would get an extra 4 days to recoop before I go back to work after my 3 week vacation. I would just use my sick days to cover it.
Well I am off to bed now, I just wanted to post what the day was like just in case anyone was like me a reads all the posts to get info on what to expect.

Another note: The radiologist said I have a small hiatal hernia, this is a contraindication for the surgery but he said it was small and he doesn't think it should stop the surgery. Let's hope Dr Rita agrees. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

As of now, early am, it is 2 weeks till my switch. I am a little disappointed because I talk to my mother and I don't think she will be able to come down for the surgery. My step father is having back issues and her boss is firing people who clock in a minute late, so I don't think she will be here. I guess it's for the best since she doesn't really like the idea of my surgery and keeps telling me not to do it. I don't need the negativity do I? My fiancee' gets upset at my mom because she keeps telling me not to do it. He's so sweet! I just wish mom could see the good side of things and not all the complications that MAY happen. She works in a nursing home and gets the bad cases, never seeing the postive effects. Well I hope to be a success story to her, I would like her to consider the surgery because of her health but I know I have to show her the good side for her to understand. Well I am off to bed now. I will be dreaming of a healthier me.
