Continued....After 100 lb loss

Jul 08, 2016

The last time I posted it was when I had lost 100 lbs. I have managed to keep it off except for the occasional 10 lb gain. I seem to stop myself and regroup when that happens and lose it. But I have not lost any more than the 100 lbs, so it is time to continue. I am doing the "5 day Meats Only" to help kick start me back to losing. Hopeful that this will get me to cut back on the carb intake that keeps me from losing. I purchased a George Foreman Grill and it has been a great asset for keeping it easy to prepare my meat meal. I am also going to get in more exercise. I purchased a Zumba DVD. I love dancing!! I wish I could ride my bike with my husband, but my knees are bone on bone and I have already had a partial knee replacement. I realize that a lot of people can usually return to riding, but I get too much pain, so I'm not able to enjoy it.

With my weight loss I am no longer a diabetic!! I do, however, have a kidney stone that will be blasted soon. But I have had kidney infections and UTI's most of my life. But I do need to drink more water.

Well I'm off to get started on CONTINUING my weight loss journey!!!

3 Year Anniversary!

Mar 02, 2015

March 1st was my 3 year Anniversary.  I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted on here. I am now down to 210 and have lost 100 lbs from the very beginning. I have more to go, but it is a bit easier now since I can be more mobile. I had to have a partial knee replacement on the right in Nov 2014 and am doing great! I can't wait for winter to be over so I can get outside and be more active without pain.

6-Mo Out

Sep 06, 2012

Well September is here. I am down to 250. I have been at this weight now since June. I am frustrated. I guess I thought I would have lost more weight by now without really having to workout. This week I have been trying to make sure I am eating better, and we will see if I can kick this plataeu.

6 Weeks Post-op

Apr 20, 2012

I am feeling great! I am down 28 pounds. Also my blood sugars are down from 385 to 121 without medication. I am having problems drinking milk. Which I hate because I love milk and I love having cereal for breakfast in the morning. Oh well, it is a small price to pay to lose weight and be healthy. I will just have to give lactose free milk a try. I haven't really been tolerating soy milk very well either. But I can eat food that are milk based just fine.

One Week Post-OP

Mar 10, 2012

There have been some tough days, but I am doing much better now. I am down 12 pounds, that I will never see again!! And as I told my dr, I won't only not see those 12 pounds but they won't be doubled down the road. I am starting to figure out what and when is the best time for me eat or drink. My energy is up and I am feeling soooo much better!

Be prepared for the Unexpected when it comes to surgery!!

Mar 06, 2012

I had a real difficult surgery. It wasn't the dr's fault or mine. What was supposed to be 45 min turned into 4 hrs. What was supposed to be laproscopic turned into open surgery. 12 inch scar down my belly. Dr got in there and discovered I had adhesions everywhere and he could find my small intestine (or get to it properly doing lap). When I was 5 days old I had surgery for what I was always told was a blockage in my intestine. Well, actually part of it was cut away. And my small intestine which should be down south in my body, was up north tucked under my colon. Dr came out and informed Jason that if he was to procede he would have to open me up all the way. (No extra charge). Jason told him that I would be upset if I woke up to find out that it wasn't done so he told him to go ahead. I did great in the hospital and was dismissed Saturday. But Sunday I was very nauseated and throwing up and having reflux REALLY bad. It has calmed down now that the Dr and I threw all the meds we could at it. Today (Tuesday) I woke up feeling so much better. If you have ever had any intestinal surgery I would suggest to have an Upper GI before any surgery so the Dr will have a plan ahead of time. Luckily my dr is also a trauma dr so he was ready and willing to continue.

Surgery This Week!

Feb 27, 2012

I am getting really excited. My surgery is this Thursday the 1st. Even as I type this I hope I don't look back at this post and think, "Well you blew that too". I hope this works for me. It needs to work for me! I am looking forward to being feeling better, taking less medication, not having to sleep with a CPAP mask on every night, finding clothing I like in my size, not having a belly that sticks out more than my boobs, not worrying about getting with family members and feeling like I am being judged, and maybe even attend a class reunion, cross my legs, and not resting my arms on my belly....oh I could go on and on. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to!

Removing Band & getting MGB March 1, 2012

Feb 10, 2012

The Lap Band did not work for me at all. I gave it 3 years.  I have decided to have it removed and have the Mini-Gastric Bypass done. I will have it done by a local surgeon, Dr. Hargroder, which I am much more comfortable about. I will have a local Dr. to follow up with.

Band is not what I thought!

Jan 09, 2009

January 9, 2009
As I have gone through all these past few months I am finding out that the band is not for me what it is for others. I am really down because it does not tell me I am full before I get the throw-up feeling. I still feel hungry all the time, and yes I am trying. I don't feel it has been the tool I want it to be. I realize though that I only have 1.6 of my 4cc filled and I am probably going through "Bandster Hell". I have had 4 blood tests so far the last few weeks to find out why my legs are so weak. I have only had a week of energizing days which was in November the week before Thanksgiving. Then all of a sudden that energy was gone. I have gained almost all my weight back, so I am having some good restriction because of the weight I gained back around my belly. This all just sounds like I am whining. I will pick myself up again and get back in the game. Tears just come to my eyes when I think about it all.
Well, wish me luck that I will get back on the wagon!

My band is not a 10cc, but a 4cc !

Oct 23, 2008

October 23, 2008
After posting my last note about not being happy with my 1st fill I found out that my band is actually a 4cc and not a 10cc.
After throwing a hissy fit, I realized that it isn't going to be that much different. My fills will just be smaller.
I got my 2nd fill on Oct 21st ( .6cc). I am feeling like it is going to be more restriction for me. I am still in the mushies, but I will have a better idea when I start eating regular food. I have been really scared about screwing this up and stretching my esophagus because after my 1st fill I was not eating properly. I am really going to try to do better!!
