4 Years

Mar 07, 2011

I just recommended this page to a friend and thought I need to check on my profile, have to upload a new picture.
My last check up was in January 2011 and now don't have to go back for another year. Keeping my weight at 135-138 pounds and the doctor is very happy with it, now if I could only remember to take my Vitamins.....

Hello

Oct 02, 2007

Good morning,

Today is the 2 Oct. 07. it has been a while. I went on the scale yesterday and I am down to 151 pounds…Yeah..!!!!

It was quite a shocker, I have been staying at 164 for the last 3 weeks and all of the sudden the weight came off.

I have noticed that seems to be a pattern, nothing for while and them a whole bunch….I have been feeling sick since June now, I have a “flank pain” on my right side, right under the breast bone, after a bunch of CT scans, IVP’s and dozen of doctor visits at Reynolds and civilian doctors in Lawton, nobody can figure out what it is, I have a Kidney stone, but all 3 different doctors are telling me that is not it….the stone is very small and sitting tight, has not moved at all…

Bunch of blood tests later and still nothing, the pain is horrible at times and then get’s a bit better, but never goes away…I have been eating Percosets like candy….other than that, life is good…

Just another update,

Had my 5 month follow up with the good doctor, all is well but he wants me to do some more toning up…

I knew that….

He also lined out the tummy tug, not anywhere scheduled yet, but he seems to be more excited about it than I am…

Ha-ha….I am down to 165 pounds from 218…that is a grand total of 53 pounds…YEAH….!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that, I am doing well…..and don’t have another follow up till November.

Hello

Aug 10, 2007

It sure has been a while since an update.

All is well here, I am down to 163 pounds (I sneak on to the bathroom scale at work every so often because I don’t have one at home) I started at 218. Yeah.

Found out last week that I have a kidney stone that is not moving. I have been having pain at my right side, right under the breastbone. I was worried that it could be something wrong with the gallbladder removal (Dr Warnock takes it out with the gastric bypass….)

So I went to my local doctor and did a urine test and CT scan and sure enough, there it was, normal size and should be passing on it’s own, but hasn’t yet, since June. So next week another visit will be in order…..boy it sure hurts.

Eating is getting better and better every day. I noticed that if I just take a tiny, tiny sip while eating, the pouch seems to be doing a lot better with digesting and processing the food, especially meat. Still trying to get my protein in one way or the other…..I ordered me a bottle of PRO_STAT …I read about it here on one of the forums and thought I give it a try, since everything else is making me gag and I end up throwing it right back up….so I will try it today….wish me luck.

Following is from the web site…

Each serving (2 tablespoons) contains 15 grams of hydrolyzed protein designed specifically for patients with increased protein needs. ProStat comes in a delicious cherry flavor and its formula is designed to be easy to tolerate and digest. Also available in Butter Pecan and Orange .
Bariatric Surgery patients should use Pro-Stat 64 with non-nutritive sweeteners.  All others can use Pro-Stat101 that is sweetened with 10.2 grams of fructose per dose.

I should be able to update some pictures this week, we had a good friend come over and finally took my son’s graduation pictures, the cap and gown thingie and took some family pictures at the same time.

Other than that, life is great, busy at work but that’s a good thing. I have my next follow up with Dr Warnock on the 10 Aug. he wanted to see me because of the problems I had with my busted scar.

So today is Thursday, and it is still or should I say, again raining here in Lawton OK

What a drag….

Life has been going good, ups and downs…but mostly up’s…I noticed the other day that I was able to pint my toenails without passing out from bending over and trying to find the toes…ha-ha…

What can I say, I am easy…little things make me happy…

It has been 2 month since my surgery and I lost 35 pounds and the proud owner of a size 16 pair of jeans….it has been a long time since I was able to fit in a pair of those.

All in all I am doing good. I am still having a hard time eating anything “dense”

Meat doesn’t sit well at all, so today I broke down and had a hot dog. So far so good, it stayed in and my stomach is not feeling any pain. My next doctor apt is in August, so we see what is going on with that. My stitches are all healed

Something I thought it was never going to happen…almost half of my site came open, wide open….!!!!!

YIKES, that was not a pretty site to see, but all is well now.

Getting back into life, working back on my normal schedule, now if the rain would just stop here…life would be great.

I am holding my breath for the Protein miracle pill…..good grief, some of those protein drinks taste can turn me off that for life…but I am chucking along, but I am sure not anywhere near of what I need to take a day….

So far that is it today, it is a slow day at work…shhhhhhhh…..

Don’t tell…..

It has been a long time since my last update,

So my surgery was on the 24 April, seems it was ages ago already. My husband and I drove up to Wichita Falls TX at 3:30 am. It is about a 1 hour drive from Lawton OK , but you never know, I sure didn’t want to be later for my big day. We got there and had to wait for about ½ hour. One of the nurses came and got us, but me in a gown and started my IV. Boy I can tell you the staff is just out of the world…she was soooo cheery and friendly and upbeat early in morning already. She explained to us that somebody will come in about 20 minutes and take us down to the holding room and pointed out where I would end up after the surgery and so on. Not even 20 minutes later I was wheeled into the holding room, which filled up pretty quickly. The staff in there was just as great, 3 out of the nurses there also had the surgery a few years back, and they looked great and had no regrets. Dr Warnock came by and talked a bit and told me and husband not too worry, and off I went into the OR. The last thing I remember is moving my butt over to the table and that was it, I was out like a light….

I don’t remember waking up in the recovery room at all….I kinda remember being wheeled up to my room and then nothing. I have no clue how I got into my bed…haha

I woke up sometime this morning with my husband there, who I send home then. It was a longer morning for him than for me. The first nurse came in, asked me how I was doing…and normal housekeeping stuff…again, very friendly and caring. later in the afternoon I was able to get up, and with the help of a nurse walked up and down the hallway…sounds scary as I still had my catheter in, but it actually felt good to get out of bed. By the way the nurse told me how to get out of bed with the least amount of strength and pain. Even so I didn’t have any pain. Could that be from the good drugs I had hooked up..????

Later that night I got one more time for another walking with the nurse which went just as well….again the staff was the best, as soon as my IV started beeping because something was empty, there were there with refills….

I had some water and that was about it, I was not hungry or even thirsty. I had a every good first night. My husband came in the morning and off we went for some more walking. He stayed till noon, I send him home, again there was really nothing for him to do…..so I kept walking the hallway, on the hour, every hour. The nurses thought it was funny….and would say…”here she comes again”

Dr Warnock comes for his rounds early in the morning and checked in with me…but I had no problem, so our visits were sort…no problem with that. Thursday morning he came in with a nurse, checked me over and gave me the ok to go over to the little guest house across from the hospital. Very nice and clean place…and the staff was just as good as the hospital.

I can’t say enough of the staff, not one of them had a bad day or any kind of rude treatment at any time.

Talked to the doctor on Friday morning and was cleared to go home …YEAH…

Got home and still felt great…had some moments of some “Buyers regret” not really sure way. I have not taken any painkillers since I got release except for some liquate Lortabe at night. Not even for the pain but I slept good with it…been walking ever since.

Had my follow up apt. on the 4 May, doctor took out the stables. I felt naked…and loose…even with the binder on….

I had to re-visit Dr Warnock yesterday, as 3 of my stitches busted open…yuck, it looks like a big hole…gross……but he checked it out and said it happens, some people have more muscles in that area, just have to keep my binder on and call him back on Monday…

Food wise it is still a mystery to me at time, soups and things like that do well…meats or other heavy food still takes a lot of work to eat. Old habits are hard to break…eating slowly, chewing the food well and things like that…but it get’s better every day. So if all goes well I am ready to go back to work on the 28 May,

So far I am down 20 pounds….I am in no hurry to lose, but rather do it the right and safe way….
