Kidney Cancer after Bariatric Surgery

Apr 14, 2015

Hi all, in Nov 2014 I had my Kidney tumor removed right partial Nephrectomy yes was Cancer clear cell carcinoma , my pathology report came back with a positive margin for tumor remaining after surgery, my 3 month ct scan showed a 1 cm spot on surgery site (may be scar tissue) and scan showed a 5mm spot on Lung (pray it's cyst) due to my tumor being near my main Kidney artery  I'm concerned but have faith all will be alright,  I will get a new CT Scan in 6 Months will know then if spots grow Dr will handle this agressive and go back in and remove Kidney Tumor and refer me to specialist for lung if it grows. I need to focus on more water intake and somehow decrease my protein intake it's not good for our Kidneys but yet we need more since our Bariatric surgery . I thank God for my R&Y surgery with weight loss I couldn't have done this at my previous weight. Anyone dealing with Kidney Cancer I would love to exchange info and learn. God bless friends let's be healthy!

2 yrs out :-) I'm surviving!!!

May 06, 2012

This has been a battle to learn how to adjust with the loss of my husband (this month May 2012 makes it 16 months) and my wt. loss surgery just over 2 yrs ago. I'm blessed to have had my surgery when I did and be able to loose my wt and have a new beginning, this has been the best desicion I had made for myself, I feel so much stronger and healthier now being thinner I'm able to go on hikes with friends and go and not have to worry about me needing medications for my blood pressure and sleep apnea is gone! I feel like I'm 35 vs 52 yrs old now due to my wt. loss.  I wouldn't say this surgery is for everyone but I myself would say for me it turned me into another person I now have less knee, feet, and overall body pain, I now have good heath and a new me all together. All the neg. I heard about Bariatric Surgery I knew I had to make my decison for me myself and so glad I had surgery I don't regreat it.  The only draw back right now is that I have excess skin on my inter  thighs and my stomach (not bad at all with clothes on but for myself will make me feel better to have it gone)  I will hope by early next yr I will be able to afford my surgery & I can learn more about skin removal surgery,  so far I'm happy with my outcome with working out in gym with all other areas to tighten if I can't do surgery I'm just proud to be healthy for my family and myself.  Good luck to all who decide on having the surgery the only suggestions I can give is read and learn all you can and follow Dr's instructions to prep and all will be good.  God Bless friends and I thank God for his blessings to me & my new beginning and all those with their wt loss journey weather it's with or without surgery.

9 Months out, challenge of a lifetime!

Jan 27, 2011

It has been 9 Months out and 74 -78 lbs down. I  had the challenge of my life  to handle the Illness of my husband that recently took his life on Jan. 18th 2011, my sweet husband Ed battle with  cancer for the last 2 1/2 yrs ended, I am a stress eater so feel I have handled this farely well due the situations we delt with for the last few yrs. My Edward is now resting in peace with our heavenly Lord above and with no pain.  I now need to get back on track, I haven't gained wt since my surgery but have had many standstill periods which I am ok with but..... my diet has been not to where it should, I found I can eat just about anything without any side effects but in smaller portions so I need to get back on track now and focus on keeping myself healthy. I plan to get on board more to get back on track, thanks all who support each other this has helped me thru out my battle of stress and illness I shared with my hubby,  I pray for my courage to get back on track and heal my broken Cathy
