I just wanted to share something that happened today.

WOW I can't believe it.

When I started the process for weight loss surgery I had to write a letter to the board at the hospital where I wanted to have the surgery done. One of the things I told them about was that last year I wasn't able to go to the zoo. I wanted to go since it would be the first time my grandson Dillon was going (he was 10 months old then)and I really wanted to be there to see his expressions when he saw the animals. I had to miss it because I knew I would'nt be able to walk for a long period of time and I would tire out to quickly. I was so sad .

Zach called last night and said they were going to the zoo this morning and I ask if they would mind if I tagged along. He said mom are you sure you want to do that. I said Yes I am. So off we went and this year with Dillon and Eli in tow.

I WALKED THAT WHOLE ZOO! WE SAW EVERYTHING! I WALKED FOR 4 1/2 HOURS!
I finally was able to see my grandson's faces when they saw the different animals
When my grandson Dillon (will b 2 aug. 4th) looked at me and said come on grammy I was able to say ok Dillon let's go. I am so THANKFUL for this surgery and the life it is allowing me to get back.

ps - I might not be able to move tomorrow but it was worth it!

My Journey to WLS

Feb 24, 2007

June 12, 2007WOW I made into the 250's this morning!!I can't remember the last time I weighed in the 250's. This is so EXCITING. I was just talking to my youngest son last night and said I can't really see it yet (the weight I've lost) really. I can tell in my face and my clothes are finally getting loose.BUT I can tell because I am able to do sooooo much more. I worked all day, then home for 5 min. went shopping with sister, home 5-10 min. went to son's to see grandson's even got down on the floor and played outside with the older one! Left there at about 9:30 pm. Was tired after that, but it was a GREAT DAY! My son said yeah mom you have alot more engery and your able to do alot more. God is good ALL the time and ALL the time God is good.Hope you have a GREAT DAY too!

May 31, 2007

WOW it's the end of May!!! Where did the month GO??? It's been a busy month here, that's why it has come and gone so quickly.
Our youngest child of 4 graduated Tuesday May 29th.
Let me tell you a little about him. His name is Matthew and he is a WONDERFUL young man. He has compassion for others. He has persevered and has come out on top.
He was on honor roll all year.
He is always willing to help when called on.
He has set a good example for his peers and for those around him.
He has a sense of humor and will do crazy, funny things just out of the blue.
He is playing baseball this summer and there will be scouts from different colleges out to look at the team, pray with me that he would get picked up by a good college for this fall.
Ok, Ok, I'm his mom and very proud to be.
CONGRATULATIONS Matthew!
Job well done.
You ran the race and you finished well.
I Love You.

Life after WLS has been so exciting. I am doing well and am able to do more and more. I went and bought flowers for outside yesterday. I hope to plant them when I get home from work this evening. Last year I could have cared less about having flowers. I didn't have the engery to even think about getting them. What a change! I'm looking forward to getting out this evening and getting them planted.
Well I hope you are all doing well and enjoying this journey as much as I am. To those who haven't had the surgery yet I am here to say it's the best thing I've ever done for myself and I have NO regrets at all.
Have a GREAT DAY!

"LIFE IS SHORT, LIVE IT TO IT'S FULLEST"
Life and all it's changes is what I've been thinking about alot lately. With our youngest daughter getting married on the 5th of May, and our youngest son graduating the 29th of May. Many changes will be taking place in our home. Then there's the weight loss and all the changes that come with it. I feel so blessed by it all and thankful to be able to experience these changes.
I haven't had any problems as far as the surgery goes and for that I am very thankful. I have many people who continue to pray for me and I know that makes a difference.
I am down 38 pounds since surgery and 52 pounds since beginning this journey last May.

I am excited to see what is next.

Tuesday, April 3rd
It's a GREAT DAY!
Everyday is a GREAT DAY!
On Sunday the 1st I went down by the river with family to feed the ducks. It was the first time for my grandsons so it was fun to watch them. The oldest one 20 months was so funny and cute.
I started back to work full time yesterday and did fine.
Then went to my youngest sons baseball game.
Then went home and worked on wedding stuff for my daughter who's getting married May 5th.
My youngest son graduates from High School on May 29th and his open house is June 3rd and he's leaving June 4th to work at camp all summer. WHEW when this is all over maybe I can rest (haha). Oh yeah I've lost 21 lbs. WOOHOO

Tuesday, March 20th
Well it's been 11 days since surgery. I'm doing well. Still sore, but mostly tired. I went to a store today with my daughter and sister. We were there for an hour and that was enough for me. It was good to get out, but I'm tired now. I'm trying to go out a little everyday to build my strength back. I'm finally getting my protein in, but just barely getting in the amount of fluid needed each day. this is harder than I thought it would be, but worth everything. I'm getting tired of pureed food and ready to go on to soft food. I will see the surgeon on Monday and hopefully he'll say all is well and start the next stage.
It has been a good day!

Friday, March 16th
Today seems to be my turn the corner day :)
I woke up feeling better and have had more engery all day. I took my first outing today. My sister picked me up and we went to see our parents. Had a nice visit, but was worn out.
All in all it has been a Good day. Got all my protein in today!!!!!

Monday, March 12th
I had surgery at 2 pm due to an emergency that came in. It was quite a day.
I had a room full of people who love and support me that stayed with me until they took me down to the pre-op area. I couldn't believe they let all those people stay with me. At one point there were 10 people in my room, all wishing me well and just letting me know they were there for me. It was awsome. I thought I would be so scared and nerveous, but I wasn't at all. God gave me such a peace about this. Still boggles my mind when I think about it, but I'm very grateful and thankful for that peace.
I had surgery on Friday at 2 pm and came home Sunday at NOON! WOOHOO!

The day before surgery!
I am so excited and I have so much support which is wonderful. My family, my friends, even my pastors are all very supportive.
I feel kinda funny right now, like I should be really nerveous and scared, but I'm really not. At least right now. It's 12:25 pm and at this time tomorrow I will be in surgery. I'm scheduled for 12 noon. Well I better go get some stuff done and pack my bag.

Monday Feb. 26th
I went to see the surgeon. I HAVE A DATE!!!! My surgery date is March 9th!! I am so excited.

Well my journey began in May of 2006 when I made that first call requesting information on WLS. I had thought about having surgery off and on for two years, but I never took that first step so I guess I just wasn't ready.
When I recieved the packet and learned all I had to do it was a little overwhelming, but I knew I had to move forward and if these were the things I needed to do to get to where I wanted to go then so be it. One of the things I had to do was write a letter stating why I wanted to have the surgery. That letter confirmed it for me. Writing down and re-reading what I had written were things I had felt but had never put into words. I sat and cried because I realized how much of life I have missed out on that I can never get back. I was determined that I would waste no more time, that I really needed to do something about this and there was no turning back. This letter had to go before the Board of Bariatric Surgery at OSU Hospital and they would let me know if I would be accepted into the program. It was hard waiting to hear if I had been accepted into the program. I was wondering what I would do if I wasn't accepted after I had finally decided that this is what I wanted to do.
I was accepted but told I needed to see a nut. and have a mental health evaluation. I got those appointments out of the way and then was told I needed to be in a nut. program for 12 weeks. I completed that the end of Dec. and then told I needed 4 classes (once a week) to learn about life after surgery. I have finished those classes.
I have an appointment with the surgeon on Monday, Feb. 26th.
I can say at times I felt very dicouraged because I felt like everything was hurry up and wait, but now I see how much I learned from evrything I had to do and how much I thought I knew when in fact I really didn't. I feel like I have grown alot within myself. I have stayed the course. I am so excited and scared all at the same time, but mostly excited that I will be able to do things that I haven't been able to do and I will be so much healither for having had the surgery.
