5 months out

Jul 26, 2009

I am now 5 months out from surgery and things are just great I have lost a total of 132 total pounds from my heaviest and about 57 since surgery. I think I might be a little slow losing but I feel great !!!! I could not be more pleased,, I can do things I haven't been able to in many years I feel younger and much more energetic. I no longer take diabetes meds and my cholesteral is perfect. I can eat just about anything without any problems. I am still struggling with the drinking after a meal, I am constantly watching the clock until I can drink again, other than that I wish I had done this years ago. I wish I could make it to more meetings but my work schedule does not allow. We have a little group out here in the sticks and we meet every two weeks and it has been great. This surgery is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself and worth any discomfort or eating struggles I have had to endure since surgery. I have been really lucky as I have not yet had any side effects from this surgery, I will knock on wood now and have had no trouble following the recomended plan from my surgeon.
If you are considering this surgery, I say go for it, I feel it has saved my life and made me a much healthier happier person.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.............................................

About Me

Jun 25, 2008

Hi,
I am a 48 year old married mother of two boys. I have been married for 27 years to the best husband out there. Our sons are 22 and 25 years old and live down the street from us.
I have been heavy since birth, my Mom says I was the largest of the three of us. She feels guilty in a way that I am as heavy as I am, as we all know genenetics do play a role in our overall make up., but when it comes down to it we are the ones responsible for what goes in our bodies. I am the only one to blame for the neglect of my health and body. I am very glad to have finally smartened up and decided to do something about it. I started my journey to a healthier me in January 08. I discussed the surgery with my pcp and she helped me decide that this would be the best route for me to follow as I have tried many times to loose the weight without much sucess.  I am also a diabetic with acid reflux, not to mention the pain from my poor little feet trying to lug all this fat  around. I have already had knee surgery once and I know if I do not do anything I will have to have more surgery.  Any way I have done all my nutritionist meetings and my pshyc eval. been to a support group which was very interesting. I had an ultrasound only to find out I have galstones. I guess they will take that out when I have surgery. I have had one sleep study and now I have to have another one this thursday, I cannot wait to get that one over with.
Once I get the sleep study overwith they will schedule my appointment with the surgeon.
In the mean time I have lost over 30+ lbs and I am feeling better everyday. I know and understand the life change this surgery requires and I am ready when ever they are...
I hope I have not bored anyone with my story, thanks for reading
