Day 2

Oct 28, 2009

Hello, it is Ray again and today is day 2 of my mother's new journey. The first day was spent sleeping and on NPO but it went good. Dr. Korn and his team found a belly button hernia during the surgery and fixed that as well as complete the gastric bypass laproscopically!! Dr. Korn said that everything was in the right place and was excited that he didn't have to open my mom up like planned.
Dr. Korn and St. Lukes have been taking care of us as well as my mom well above my expectations. Today is Day 2 and it is even better than I expected. My mother was no as sleepy and was very responsive and cracking jokes with us.  She is still in ICU for monitoring just for good measure and should get her own room tomorrow. She sat up on the edge of the bed and experienced some nausea and laid back down but later on was able to walk from her room to the nurses station and back.  She has been doing her breathing exercises and is making sure to move her feet to motivate blood circulation.  She was allowed 1 to 3 ounces of liquids per house and at a couple bits of jello.
My mom is doing so well and it is because of the nurses and dr's at St. Lukes, I was to extend and thank you to them all, they are making things so easy for us and my mothers recovery is going so well. We are taking this all one day at a time and each day is looking brighter than the day before, the sunrise of her new life is on the horizon and we are breaching the edge. I love you mom!
Thank you everyone who have left comments and or have send kind words of healing.  I will keep you all posted!

God Bless,

Ray
