How I got this way - I don't even know. I got married the month after my 21st birthday to a wonderful man. I was 140# on my wedding day. I was hot and didn't even know it. My father was diagnosed with cancer shortly after that. We knew we wanted to have kids - so we did. We had our first son when I was 23 and my second son when I was 25 (I was breastfeeding and didn't know I was pregnant until my second trimester). I weighed 190 when I got pregnant the first time and gained 25 lbs that I never lost. I gained 22 pounds the 2nd time. I decided to go back to school and went evenings and weekends to get my RN degree. Life just kept passing me by. I was sedentary!!! I was a stay at home mom and a student. It was hard. I had our 3rd child - a daugher when I was 32 and that is when my dad died of cancer. I helped take care of him until the end and was by his side when he died. It was the hardest thing I have ever been through. My husband had trouble supporting our family as a carpenter so we moved from Buffalo to Charlotte, NC 9 months later. We didn't know a soul. I worked full time night shift (and more) and cared for our kids. I still don't know how I did it. I guess I just ate my way through it. I was very sad and lonely here.
Things are looking up - fast forward 9 years. We have wonderful friends. Moving was the best thing we ever did for our marriage. We learned to count on each other. I feel like I am in a really good place to tackle this new life journey of weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. I don't do hospital nursing and work for a doctor (who is the greatest boss in the world). I am off weekends and holidays!!!! I am in a really good place.
