An update on Me!
Jan 20, 2009
After having a rough 2008, I have decided that 2009 is going to be a year about me.
To do this, I have decided the following:
1. To attend support group regularly. I admit I have slacked with my main
excuse, it throws my son off schedule. One night a month is not going
to hurt him. I need this for me.
2. Set myself some mini goals.
A. Back to the bite it write it philosophy. If it goes in my mouth it gets
written down.
B. 64 + oz of water a day. I have slacked on this alot lately. I have gotten
back into drinking too much coffee. I have resolved that I can have
the coffee, 2 cups a day is my limit, with a penalty of 8 oz of additional
water for every cup drank.
C. Making sure I get my vitamins and suppliments in every day.
3. Setting myself some quarteryly and yearly goals.
A. Do a 5K walk in March.
B. Complete 4 5K walks over the summer.
C. Buy a bike and ride it.
D. Be in a size 16 for my nieces wedding in May.
4. Blogg more frequently. I stopped blogging when I found out my husband
was reading my blog on blogspot. Its not that I have anything to hide, but
it was for me. Its hard to explain, but it was like my personal stuff. I wasn't
ready to share, so I quit.
5. Be responsible for myself. I can blame my lack of weight loss on my
health problems, my mother in laws cooking, my husbands lack of support.
When it boils down to everything, its my responsiblity of what goes in my
mouth and what I do with my body.
Well that is it for today.
God Bless
Pam

Today is my rebirthday!
Jun 06, 2008
I can honestly say that it is the best thing I did with my life. I am bit farther from my goals, but I can say the following.
1. I have lost 117 pounds in the past year
2. I no longer have to have injections in my knees for my arthitis
3. I am no longer looking at knee replacement in my left knee
4. I am off my 8 medications a day including arthritis, cholesterol and 2 antidpressants.
5. I am down from a size 30/32 shirt to a 18/20
6. I am down from a size 52DDD to a 42D bra
7. I am down from a size 26/28 pants to a 16/18
8. I no longer have to shop in supersize plus stores.
9. I am down from a ring size of 11 1/2 to a 8 1/2
10. I am down from a 9 w to a 8 regular shoe
11. I can walk 3-4 miles without being affected. I can ride a bike 5 miles.
12. My husband has also lost 25 pounds.
13. My hair fell out alot, but it is now thicker than it ever has been.
14. I battled cancer and 20 treatments of radiation and WON! I know this would have been harder on me if I would have been heavier and not as fit as I was.
15. I have met some wonderful people on the June 2007 and on the Michigan Board.
I have about 70 pounds to go before plastics. Realistically, I can do this in the next 6 months.
Thanks for all the support

my bmi
Feb 26, 2008
My bmi is down from 57 to 42.4. a few more pounds and I will no longer be in the morbidly obese category, just obese. That feels good in a strange way. I will have to say, that even though the last 9 months have been very trying at times, and I have had my fair share of ups and downs. This is the best thing that I have done with my life, maybe a close tie with the birth of my son.
Highly encourage anyone who is thinking about doing this. It is the best thing. I wonder why I waited so long. It is said that he who hesitates is lost, well I feel like I have lost several years by waiting.

The last month has been a very long one. Radiation is done. Thank god.
I would say it was one of the worse experiences of my life. I am healing very well and quicker than I thought I would. I have a follow up dr appt on 4/10, and he didn't think it would be healed by then, but I think it will be mostly healed by the end of the month.
As far as weight loss, I was pretty stale this month. My Oncologist really didn't want me to lose weight during my treatments, and I didn't., but that didn't make me real happy.
I am back on track and back to the gym. I am still tired from my treatments, but this too will pass.

7 month update
Jan 13, 2008
Alot of things have happened in the last month. I have started radiation on my cancer, and am 6 treatments done out of 20. I will be glad when feb 1 rolls around and that will be it. For now anyway. I have to go back now and have a complete body check. But if they find anything, it should be small enought to be surgically removed.
My gall badder is out successfully, and my scars are healed nicely. I was shocked that the bills for it was almost as much as my by pass was.
I have started loosing again which thrills me to death. I have lost 7 pounds since the first of the month. I am focusing alot more on me and what I put in my mouth every day.
I also have upped my protien from 73 grams recommended to 105 to help my body deal with radiation. I have also upped some of my suppliments to help me cope with the fatigue and tiredness. My fluid consumption is back up into the gallon range, which it was before by wls. This keeps everything moving.
We are all finally adjusting to my husband being on first shift after 3 years of working 2nds. We actually have planned meals, evening activities and work as a family should.
I guess that is all for now.
Until next tme
Best wishes.

Six months
Dec 09, 2007
I have had a rough couple of months. I had issues with low blood sugar, hypoglycemia, blacking out
, then it was gall bladder (having surgery to have it removed Thursday, 12/13). Then I find out that a spot on my face is skin cancer
and it can't be surgically removed. I have to have 15 - 20 treatments of radiation
.
I have fallen back into some of my bad "stress" eating habits. I know why my scale is not moving. I am not blaming anyone but myself.
So today, I decided to shake my funky mood off and do some shopping for my self. I bought a pair of regular jeans in size 20, waistband and zipper. I started in a size 26/28 stretch jeans . I also bought a pair of 16/18 black pants. I also bought a 1 x shirt 16/18. I started in a 4 x 30/32. It did wonders for my mood, and makes me want to stay on track.

I have been down on myself until today
Nov 08, 2007
Today I went for my monthly weigh in at my GP office (he requires this) I am down 85 pounds today from a week before surgery. I have been up and down the last month, and didn't think I was making much progress. But looking at my file, I have lost 20 pounds the last 9 weeks. Which is 2 pounds a week. Not great, but looking at it that way, I feel better.
I also went today because I am having some stomach problems, The starting of an ulcer. I am back on previcid 2 x a day for the next two weeks, then once a day for about a month and then I can take it if I feel I need it. Stress at work and home has been killing me the last month. This will make it change.
I have had all my synvisc injections in my knees now, and can get back to exercizing regularly again. It has really calmed my arthritis down. The weight off helps too I am sure.
I am down to wearing a 1 x or 2x top depending on where I get them, and Have mostly 1x pants and they are starting to get large. I am sure that if I switched to a regular waist band instead of elastic, it would change, but that time will come soon. It is nice not to have to look for a 4 x every where I go.
Now, if only my hair would stop falling out, I would be really happy. It keeps getting thinner and thinner. I keep cutting it shorter and shorter, to hide the baldness. I got it colored that helps because my hair is so dark. Don't want to go to light either.
Well I think that it is about it for today.

My BMI
Sep 19, 2007
I just noticed that my BMI is down 10.6 points. I am now only morbidly obese, not super morbidly obese. Baby steps.

Almost 15 weeks out and stuck at 70
Sep 17, 2007
Wendesday will be my 15 weeks, and I have been stuck around the 70 mark for 2-3 weeks now.
I know the past two weeks are lack of exercize. My arthritis in my knee has really bothered me, especially in the morning, so it makes it hard to motivate to exercize. I am going to call and see about getting my synvisc shots again to get me through the next 9 months.
My iron is low, so they doubled my iron intake. I am starting to feel more rested in the morning.
tomorrow is a new day.

10 weeks out - 60 pounds down
Aug 16, 2007
Have not updated ina couple of weeks. Time seems to be flying by. I have started buying clothes have went from a 30-32 (4x) down to a 2x. I was so happy last week when I went shopping, and I was able to fit into a 2x, the 3x fit, but was kind of loose.
I have to get some pictures taken and posted, that is my next step.
I have not had any problems with hair loss. The girl that does my hair says its thicker than she has ever seen it, and she has done my hair for almost 4 years. I started using Nioxin shampoo right after surgery and taking 300 mcg of Biotin 2 times a day. Apparently it is working.
