50 pounds down!!!!!!!!!!!

Jul 23, 2007

Well, after the scales not moving for 5 days, Sunday morning, they did, and dropped me to 50 pounds lost.

I am so excited.  My next mini goal is 75 pounds down by 3 months.  I am seeing a difference in my clothes.  I cleaned a whole laundry basket of pants out of my closet that have become baggy and unattractive.  Yes, I still have a size or two left in there.  My shirts are next.

6 Weeks post op

Jul 19, 2007

Well, all things are going well.  At six weeks I was hoping to hit the mark of 50 pounds.  I got on the scale and it was 49.  I guess I can't complain.

I joined a gym last night.  One of the local gyms is under new ownership and are offering some good deals.  I got 2 years for the price of 1, so it works out to $16.50 a month.  This also includes a personal trainer.  So I worked with him last night figuring out an action plan for me.  So for the first couple of weeks, I am to go 3-4 times a week and no more.  He wants me to start out slow, recumbant bike and treadmill first and swiming.  In about two weeks he will start me with some of the circuit training equipment.

My dear hubby is not sure about the decision, but I am.  So I was out the door at 6:15 this morning, and rode 2.5 miles on the bike.   I plan on going early on Saturday for a swim and sauna.    Then we are off to one of the local childrens zoo with my three year old.

Some of my adversion to sweets is diminishing.  Up until now about the only thing I can stand is a sugar free Fudgesicle brand Fudgesicle.  Can't do popsicles,  sf jello or puddings.  No sweet & low for my tea.  Some of the protien drinks are even too much for me.

Well I think that is about it for this week.

5 week post op check in

Jul 12, 2007

Well, it just seems almost impossible that I am 5 weeks post op.  It also seems impossible on how easily the weight is dropping off.    Yesterday I had problems with food, nothing sat well.  I knocked back to broth and smoothies, and feel better today.

Well according to my scales, I am down 42 pounds.  Unless I hit a flat point, I should easily be down the 50 that I want to be by August 2 ( my 6 week appt, 2 weeks late).    My pants are really starting to feel baggy.    I notice it in my face alot.  My girl friend is taking pictures of me once a month.  I will get them posted as soon as I can get the time to edit them.

Today was a milestone.  Had a potluck at work, and was able to stay on plan and the food buffet did not bother me at all.  I planned accordingly and made ham roll up and spinach dip from my Barix cookbook.  There was fresh fruit and I was fine.   I even had people ask for my recipe for ham rollups.  When I told them they were almost fat free, no one would believe me.

Thats all for this week.

4 Weeks and 35.5 pounds

Jul 04, 2007

I told my boss today, that he has worked me too hard this week.  Since Monday, I have droped 4.5 pounds.  Apparently, moving office funiture and storage boxes and reconnecting network and computer is good exercise.  We got new office carpet and everything had to be moved and put back.

Good thing is my monthly came without any water weight or cramping.  On another note, moving from pureed foods to soft foods have been challenging this week.  I have to teach myself to eat slower.  Getting water in is not a problem.  I have been exceeding my 64 ounces, just in water daily.  My protien today has not been good, but generally I am getting all my protien in.

What I really think is funny, is the food and beverages that taste different.  I loved crystal litte before.  Can't stand it unless it is drastically watered down.  Bottle water is the same way, my favorite water tastes like dirt.  I have a low tolerance for anything too sweet.  My flinstone vitamins even gag me every once in a while.

I did order the sample pack from Bariatriceating.com.  I wish I would have had it here waiting for me when I got home.  My tastes have changed so much,  The samples are giving me a good basis for reorders.  My other favorite from there is the sugar free marshmallows.  OH MY - my son even loves them.  At almost $5.00 per bag, I have to limit him, but generally one satisfies my "head hunger" for something sweet or gooey.  Actually they are neither.  They are like a real marshmallow, but not as sweet.  Didn't get a chance to use them in cocoa.    There is always the next order.

Friday, I go to my local physician for my monthly weigh in with him.  I can't wait to see my results there.

Three Weeks and 30 pounds

Jun 28, 2007

Yesterday marked my 3 weeks post op.  I am 30 pounds down.  I feel great, sleeping well and getting adjusted back to real life.  I have started walking about 1 mile a day.  On the days it is too hot and humid, I stick to the mall to walk, otherwise it is in the evenings at the high school track.  My arthritis really has not bothered me since surgery.  I was due for my synvisc injections in my knees on June 5, but my dr would not do them.  We will see how the weather treats me and see if I will need them again.

It is getting my 3 year old son into some good habits.  He is eating smaller meals more frequently, and he runs two laps of the track (1/2 mile) while I walk it.

I was having problems with not drinking for a half hour after eating, but sugar free life savers have become my friend.     I also had my first dumping issues this week.  I know better, but I did it anyway.  Testing the waters so to speak, and yes I paid for it.    It is also related to the "food pusher" in the office, now that she has seen the affect, hopefully she won't do do that again.

First Post op appt

Jun 18, 2007

12 days out, and I have my first post op appt at Barix.

According to them, I am down 17 3/4 pounds from surgery.  I like my scales better, which read an even 20 this morning.  Dr Kam is very happy with my progress, and I have moved from Liquid to pureed foods.  Never thought that would make me happy.

Feeling good and can't wait to get back to work tomorrow.

5 days post op

Jun 11, 2007

I am actually feeling pretty good.  I had my first major sneeze since my surgery.  OH MY, I thought I was going to die.   I see my regular Doc tomorrow.  He wanted to see me about a week from surgery.  Should be interesting.  He had me scared.  I seen him a week pre op and he needs educated on this procedure more.  He told me I would come home with drainage tubes and all kinds of things, and realistically I would be out 12 weeks from work.  I listened to him.  I trust him.  I got scared.  I have short term disability, so I got all the paperwork around to file.  It will be put through the shredder after I see Dr. Kam on 6/18.  I am sure that I am going back in the two weeks of vacation I took off.

As far as food, nothing really hits my fancy yet.  I tried a smoothie yesterday with protien powder, milk and yogart and ice.  My little pouch didn't like it al all.  Gas pains.  Live and Learn.

Today I have stuck with Profect for most of my protien, and things are better.  More tired today than yesterday, but I think I pushed it too much yesterday.

Until Later

Less than 24 hours to go

Jun 05, 2007

I can't believe that it is almost here.  Part of me thinks it is dreamland.  I have to report to the hospital tomorrow at 10 a.m.  My bag is packed, my liquid diet is going well, but evenings are the hardest.

Tomorrow at this time, I will be in recovery or in my room.  One of the hardest challenges for me right now is leaving my 3 year old son for a few days.  We have not been apart at all except for work, since he was born.  He is my sunshine when I get home from a hard day at work.  He is a cuttlebug, and I enjoy watching cartoons with him in the evening.  He is my life.  This is why I am doing this.  I want to tire him out instead of him tiring me out.
