It's been a whole month since I posted.  Shame on me.  I've been SO incredibly busy at work I get on very little.   Starting a new job (at the same company) at the beginning of the year, so I won't be doing SO much overtime.

It's been 6months since surgery and I feel .... FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the best decision I could have ever made.  That you LORD for
allowing this to happen and bringing me back to health and well.... happiness!

I started my journey at 300.8 lbs and and now in ONE-derland and the Century Club.  Yep, that's right!  I have lost over 100 lbs since this all started.  It's amazing though how quickly I started to feel good.  No more blood pressure meds or C-Pap machine.  Me so happy!  I do still take my diuretic as I have terrible edema in my legs if I don't take it.  I gained about 6 lbs when I ran out of it a few weeks ago.  Thankfully, I'm back down under 200.  300.8 to 197.5 for a total so far of 103.3 lbs lost!

Take care and hope you are doing great as well!

Well, thought I would post about my Thanksgiving goal.  Unfortunately, I didn't make my goal of Onederland by Thanksgiving, but that's okay.  I kind of hit a wall in the loss, thinking it was because of the weight lifting equipment.  So, I changed to all cardio workouts until Thanksgiving and that didn't even move the needle.  Oh well.  What's really weird, my daughter and I went to see August Rush on Wednesday night and I ate popcorn with butter and on Thursday morning I finally had the scale move....what?  Again with not getting enough calories in?  Sheesh!  So, yesterday, I tried to eat a bit more (even pretzels and cheese its for carbs) and yep, the scale moved again another lb down.  So, now I'm at 203.5 and have 4 more lbs to hit Onederland and get into the Century Club.  Just have to remember to eat enough, go figure.  LOL

Things have been going really well for me.  I only have one issue that I deal with, but don't really want to get into that here.  So....until I get my butt into see the doc, I'll keep doing what I can to help.  I know this can't last forever.

I've decided on last Thursday to give myself a goal to try and acheive and have posted it so that I have more accountability.  I stopped losing weight and even gained a pound and a half the last few weeks, so took a look at what I was consuming during the day and decided there was no way I was taking in enough calories, protein or water.  Not  that I was eating foods bad, just not enough of what was good for me.  I was also not moving enough....work has gotten really busy ...yeah, surprise...LOL  and I wasn't taking the time for me to get out and walk or anything.  So....with a goal in sight of losing 16 lbs by Thanksgiving and getting into the Century Club and Onederland, I'm kicking it in gear.  Gotta get back on track!

I've started taking the 8 flights (96 steps) down at work each time I need to go down and I take them up ONCE during each workday.  I also am taking the time to walk 1 mile during my lunch time.  It's kind of funny, but if I don't get outside to walk and I'm busy or whatever, when I'm at home, I jog my hallway and kitchen for awhile and get my heart rate going.  The dog thinks I'm crazy and the cat looks like she wants to attack, but oh well.  LOL  Walking is great, but it just isn't bringing my heartrate up anymore.

With the added movement and increased protein intake, I've gotten the scale moving in the right direction again.  I've lost 4 lbs since last Thursday.  I have 12 lbs to go to  hit my Thanksgiving goal on the 22nd.  Wish me luck!

To whoever reads this....take care and be blessed!

WOW....it's my 3 month surgiversary today...I can hardly believe it's been that long already.  Aside from the limited amount I can eat, I'd never know I'd had surgery.  Things have gone so GREAT!

My loss once again, has slowed down to a screeching ummmm, well....it's moving really slowly.  Although I know this is normal....I blame myself.  I have gotten extremely busy at work again...knew it wouldn't last long without too much overtime; and being so busy, I'm not getting home til later and not getting out for my walks or anything.  I have to do something to get some exercise in.

Finally posted some new pics...from 5 days after surgery, 1 month and 3 months.  Everyone else sees a huge change....I see the pics and aside from the 5 days after pic to now, I don't see that much change in the 1 month and 3 month which is discouraging, but I have to remember others can see it....maybe it's just me doubting myself.

Take care all and talk to you soon!

Went back on my hydrochlorathiazide a couple days ago and yep, I was definately retaining tons of fluid....well, I knew I was, but the loss this week just shows how much.

Here's my loss chart.....I'm very happy....and there is still quite a bit of edema in my legs still.  More to go....

2 Month Surgiversary

Aug 19, 2007

I went to coffee yesterday morning and didn't even realize that it was my 2 month surgiversary until I looked at my date book for something.  I was SOOOO shocked.  I really can't believe it's been that long already.  I am tracking my weekly weight loss down farther in my blog, but thought I'd add it to this post and all surgiversary posts.  I've done alright....was trying to get in 650-800 calories a day as I was in starvation mode for awhile, but only achieved that for a couple of days before going back down.  I just feel sooooo FULL all day if I eat that many calories.  So, worked really hard yesterday to make sure I got that many in again and I just made 650.  Whew!  Really need to get that as I'll quit  losing again if I don't.  I was really frustrated for awhile, but I know that I'm not cheating or anything so this is just the way my body is chosing to lose.  Which is GREAT....the slower the loss, the less hair I'll lose.  I'm definately making sure I get enough protein in now and that will help too.    Well....enough chatter.....here's my loss chart.

Today I am 8 weeks post-op.  I weighed myself once this morning and was up 1/2 lbs.  I've increased my walking this week to at the very least an hour a day and increased my calorie intake to at least 650 caloried a day as I was in  starvation mode.  Was sure hoping for a loss.  Went to weigh again, just before I posted and I was down 2 lbs from the previous time.   HMMMM.

Well, I'm taking it.  It's only down 1.5 from last week, but I'll take it.  I have a lot of edema in my legs still and the sodium content was high yesterday....so, I need to get back to the doctor and see if I should be back on my blood pressure diuretic.  I'm thinking the answer will be a yes.  I'll have to call today.

It's felt really good walking.  I walk all the way downtown and around and then up a steep hill and the only time I get winded is going up the hill.  Last night, it took less than an hour.  So, if I'm going to walk that fast, I'll have to add some more distance.  I didn't feel too bad though because I had walked for an hour earlier too.  So, it was almost 2 hours yesterday.

Have a GREAT week and I'll make sure to post next Monday at least.

Okay....so, I've been going along unhappily about my extremely slow weight loss and thinking I'm going to be the one person that experiences the *risk* as my surgeon put it that doesn't lose weight with this surgery.

It has been SO frustrating seeing the scale move 1 or 2 lbs a week.  Then, I read a post after someone was talking about how slow they were losing and someone said that her NUT said that she should be taking in 650 - 900 calories a day at 8 weeks.  She did that and lost 4 lbs in a few days.  Hmmmm

I know that I have only been taking in 200-400 calories a day.  Well, could that be my problem?  I sure hope so.  Yesterday, I started tracking my intake on fitday.com and got over 650 calories in.  Going to try for the same today, but it's sooooooooooo hard.  I feel so icky eating so much.  Well, what feels like so much now....to others it isn't anything.  *S*

Had a hard time with breakfast this morning, so will have to adjust.  Only at about 1/4-1/2 of it.  Eggs just seem to be harder for me to eat now.  They were fine before.  Maybe I'll have to try and scramble next time instead of making an omelet.

Okay, have to get ready for work.  Take care and hoping for more weight loss by Monday weigh in .

Love ya all!
Pam
