I have weight problems for over 30 years. I am not unique, I have had my shares of weight loss and gains.
I have been a nurse for over 42 years in the care of moms and babies. I worked in the OR in my early career and became a Labor nurse after my children were born. I also cross trained to work in Maternity and nursery and was happy to be there any day. I also taught childbirth classes for 14 years. I loved teaching and thought someday I would do that full time. When my child were in middle school I decided to go back to get my degrees in nursing. It took a while but finally got my Bachelors in Nursing in 1985 and my Masters in Nursing in 1987. I also got certified in Maternity nursing during that time. I left my staff nurse position for an Advance Practice position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 1987. When my DH changed jobs in 1991,we moved to New Jersey and I became a Manager of Maternity in Princeton. My daugher had her first baby during those years and I became homesick and wanted to see my grandchildren grow, so I convinced my husband to move back to Ohio. He works out of our home so it was no problem for him - he just wanted me to find another job. So we came back to Ohio, I got a position as a Nurse Educator in Akron and a few years later, my former position as CNS became available so I traveled back and forth to Youngstown until July of 2006. During that time I became a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. That was a very rewarding job and I was so happpy in my position. Well, a few years ago, that hospital began facing financial problems and in the spring of 2006 I learned that my job was to be eliminated before the end of the year. My faith in God was tested, but I let the Lord handle the situation. I began interviewing in April of that year. What made it so special is that there are very few CNS positions available, but for devine intervention I was able to look at three positions. I didn't know where the Lord was going to put me, or if I would even get a job. But praise God - I lost my job on a Friday, and as I left the office of my boss I felt at peace with it and just ask the Lord to help me get throught this. Well, I was offered a new job in Akron by Tuesday! I was amazed by God's timing in all of this. I have a job I love, with all the nice things that go with it. Especially since this is where I was introduced to the idea of WLS for me. I believe that I was supposed to be here at this time.
