Saturday morning I talked with Pam. She is real sore & has some nausea but sounded real good on the phone. She possibly might be able to go home on Monday. Her mom is with her & she said the hospital staff has been great. May the Lord be with her & others in a very special way at this important time in their lives. Our prayers are with you Pam.

I have just spoken with Pam Wilemons mother on the phone at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. She had her surgery today & is doing well at the present time. Her mom said she is resting & sleepy from the surgery. The doctor also had to remove her gallbladder. Pam is in Room 315A. Please continue to keep her & her family in your thoughts & prayers during this time. Pam is a wonderful teacher & has become a very good friend of mine. Wishing her & all others many healthier & happy days as they begin this new journey in their lives. God Bless!

Hi Pamela, I have just read your post about the problems you experienced as an obese teacher. Well I also am a math teacher from Georgia who weighs around 510 pounds. I am sorry to hear about all the bad things that you had to go through on your job. It sounds to me as if you have already done a wonderful job in your weight loss efforts( a loss of 200 pounds had to of taken much work, diligience on your part). I have never had to experience the specific things you talked about, but there have been times when I have felt that I didn't fit in at my job due in part to my weight & my height(6'1"). Just like you I love my job & I enjoy working with my students. I hope to be able to continue to do so but this surgery would definetly help me out with some of the medical problems I have. Insurance exclusions seems to be a problem for me. I am so glad that you were able to qualify for the surgery & try not to let the events from this 1 school get you down. It sounds to me as if you are a great teacher with much potential to offer your students & it is ashamed that this school system did not realize this & offer the support that you needed. I wish you the best as your surgery date approaches. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS.

Hello Pamela! I'm a former resident of T-town (went to grad school there in the mid-90's). Just wanted to wish you luck with your surgery!! I'll be ahead of you by a few weeks, mine is May 3 way down in Fairhope, Al. but logistically we're not that far apart - I live in Hamilton, just about 70 miles from Tuscaloosa. Again, best wishes, it'll be here before you know it! Kay Marshall BMI 56 PreOp: May 3 Dr. James Seay
