wow-i haven't updated in quite a while. well, since mid-august, i'm down 65lbs. i'm currently wearing sz 12 jeans & XL shirts, sz 7 panties, 40DDD bras. The bust was quite a surprise. I had a bra-fitting done as I just couldn't find any size to fit. So cup size went up, band went down.
My weight loss feels slow, even though it really isn't. I just see others on the boards that have lost so much more weight at this point. I just try to remember that everyone is different. I just want it gone yesterday!

Haven't updated in a while so here i am. Today I am wearing size 14 jeans & XL tops. I think that's pretty good considering I started in size 18-20 jeans/pants & size 2X tops. I am still wearing some 1XL tops as my chest hasn't really gone down too much. I also found a great slimmer for my tummy roll. I got it on ebay for $10 total, and I believe it is called shape n slim. It is like a tank with no bra (only comes up to under bra line) so it will not go moving around my body, & I can wear my own bra. If you are top heavy, I would definitely suggested looking for a slimmer like this.
I think my cup size is finally coming down a notch. Some bras I can still wear a DDD but others are too big. I am looking forward to this coming down. I'm sure when I get closer to my goal weight, I will need to have some plastics, including a breast lift & reduction. A nice C would be wonderful (at least to me).
Someone finally noticed today that I have lost weight, or at least asked me if I was losing weight. It only took 45 lbs to disappear.
Hoping to be in One-derland by Christmas. According to my scale, I only have about 5-7 lbs to go (depending on the day). Hopefully I will get to update my pics soon as I'm tired of looking at that sad belly over there.
I also wanted to mention that I have been able to tolerate anything I have put in my mouth. I've heard a lot of people say that they can't do pork. I've had canadian bacon, bacon bits & pork tenderloin--all just fine. Chicken-no problem, turkey was fine (I did use some gravy just to be sure though), ground beef (lean, not so lean) & buffalo went down just fine too. Tried scallops, tuna fish & canned salmon-also good. One meat that was a little harder for me was deli meat. This may be due to my eating too fast. It just seemed to sit like a lump in my chest for a while.

6 weeks out

Nov 20, 2007

so yesterday marked my 6 wks out date. went to the dr for weigh-in (lost about 11 lbs so that makes about 38 since August) & nutrition class. the nutrition class is really a laugh. if i hadn't already paid the money (the classes are required), i would probably skip them. i've learned so much more from my OH friends than that silly class.
so i'm hoping to lose 14 lbs by Christmas as that will put me under 200 lbs, but i haven't hit a stall yet & many people seem to get them right around this time post-op. we'll see.
i had my 1st bout of the foamies friday night. now that was fun. my hubby & i went out to eat at cheddar's since we were actually alone (no kids). i got a small chicken quesadilla thinking i could pick out the chicken & maybe have a very small part of the tortilla. i had about 3 bites of chicken & a small bite of tortilla. that was it. couldn't eat anymore. i sat there while hubby ate his large salad feeling sick the whole time. i finally decided i needed to go to the restroom. i spit up foamy spit (looked like egg white). i did it again in the parking lot. i did it again at wal-mart (luckily i made it to the restroom, barely). i did it again in the hallmark store (almost didn't make it there-was running for the front door as they have no public restroom). finally i was done. apparently something got stuck in my stoma-that caused all the excess saliva as it was to help digest the material. i didn't have my papaya enzyme with me-that's supposed to help. i have also placed a small plastic bag in my purse in case this sort of thing happens in the future.

4 weeks out!

Nov 05, 2007

so here i am--4 weeks ago today at this time i was in recovery, ready for my new life to begin. seems like surgery was forever ago & that i will never get to the "months out stage."

what i have learned so far.

i'm not superwoman. i've never been the type of person to ask for help. i needed help in the hospital when i just couldn't sleep & had to beg for some pain meds. i needed help getting out of bed in the mornings because it hurt too much to bend out of bed.

coughing after surgery is a horrible & necessary thing. i think that's where the majority of my pain came from!

protein bars are not meant for people that should be on a pureed diet--no matter how much you chew.

eating too fast hurts bad! (and this is very easy to do if you are not thinking about your food)

everybody loses at different rates. generally someone who is quite large at time of surgery will lose faster than those that are a light weight (me). don't concern yourself with what other people are losing--concern yourself with your well being.

people don't know that loose & lose are 2 different words (loose: my jeans are loose today; lose: i hope to lose 100 lbs--see, 2 different words)

I checked my weight at home-shows I'm down to about 217-that means I've lost 34 lbs since 8/6/07! Yeah!

boiled egg

Nov 01, 2007

came home today & decided to get some protein in and just have dinner in a few hours. so i ate a hard boiled egg. i've had this in my tuna this week so i knew i could tolerate the egg. BUT i apparently ate it too fast & probably didn't chew well enough. it was stuck--thought i was going to have to throw it up (haven't thrown up since before surgery), but it finally started working it's way down. Thank Goodness! just beware--chew that egg & treat it like it's a meal-eat it slowly.

3 weeks out

Oct 29, 2007

well, today marks my 3 wks out from surgery date. i weighed myself at home yesterday (something i try to avoid doing to avoid going scale crazy). my scale shows me down to 219 which is 5 lbs down from last monday at dr's office (which would make a total of 32lbs since 8/6). but i think my dr's scale weighs a little heavy so i try to go by their scale. if i can keep this rate up, i might be under 200lbs by the end of the year. that would be great.
tried some tuna fish today w/light miracle whip (i don't like mayo), dill pickle & boiled eggs. wasn't sure if my pouch was going to accept it, but it seemed ok with it. it may have had a little trouble getting used to something besides chili.
so far i haven't been sick from anything i've eaten. everything has sat ok with the pouch. seems really strange when you see so many posts talking about dumping or foamies, etc...
i'm having a lot of trouble getting in my fluids. i think i'm doing ok on protein, but fluids are not good. during the day at work, i only go the restroom 2 times.

hungry?

Oct 23, 2007

been feeling kinda hungry today. i really don't think i'm truly hungry. i just think i am. seems that my co-workers all had delicious smelling lunches today. i ate more today than i normally do at work. i usually just have a protein shake & maybe a few toddler melt-in-your-mouth crackers for a bit of crunch. today i had my shake, a bottle of crystal light, 2 slices of deli ham, a small brick of reduced fat cheese (kinda like a stick of string cheese) & 4 oz of yogurt. feel like a pig! lol
i've had my homemade chili for dinner for the past few nights. thankfully i haven't gotten tired of it yet. but i do tend to overeat it. need to do better at that. that too full feeling is extremely unpleasant.
i still haven't gotten sick (foamies, thrown up, dumped)-i really don't want to test the dumping thing, but i have a feeling sugar won't bother me.

2 weeks post op

Oct 22, 2007

well, the 1x i tried on this morning didn't fit right-little too tight for my tastes. but i went to the dr today for my 2 week post op check up & nutrition class. I'm down another 4lbs since last week--this means i am obese! instead of morbidly obese! they were joking in the office that i no longer qualify for WLS. lol. nurse says wait til i come back for my 6 wk class & weigh in--i should be pleasantly surprised--i hope so!

Old clothes

Oct 21, 2007

well, i decided that i needed to go thru my closet to see if any old clothes fit me. this week i noticed that my 2x shirts were falling off my shoulders a bit--looked down & saw my bra shoulder strap a few times.  so i currently wear an 18-20 in pants (depending on the stretch). i can now wear my 16 jeans! unfortunely i only have a couple of pairs, but hopefully i can get thru this size quickly as i have a lot of 14's. i will try on my 1x shirts this week. i feel like my chest has gone down some & that is the biggest reason for having to wear a larger shirt. so wish me luck!

One week Post-op

Oct 15, 2007

Had my one week post-op visit today. Since I first saw dr in august, i have lost 23lbs! So far, so good! Now i have a week of full liquids. Our nurse practitioner said to get a little inventive with our full liquids if need be. She was on liquids for a month when she had her lap band & resorted to taking small spoonfuls of bbq sauce!
Also she removed all my staples today. Usually they only take out a few, but she said that since I was healing so well, she was going to remove them all. Another good sign. I was also starting to get a skin reaction to the staples; that may have been why they hurt a bit coming out (i don't recall them hurting at all when i had my c-section.).
Heading back to work tomorrow. I'm sure my desk will be overflowing with paperwork since I've been gone a week. Exciting!
