WOW moments - Sunday, 6/6/10

Jun 08, 2010

Hello all,

I haven't been around for awhile however I am making a point to return at least x1/week just because.

I have to tell you my WOW moment that happened to me on Sunday, 6/6/10.
I have been on a weight loss plataeu for ever (as of Jan10) and have been in the 160's forever.  My doctor told me back in January that I needed to exercise and I obediently said "I promise."  I didnt keep my promise and though I have been watching what goes into my mouth, I didn't exercise and the scale has not moved.  I have been slowly allowing myself to eat goodies and the whole time I open my mouth to insert food I think "why are you doing this?"

Anyways, I decided to take a stand against my old self (who is trying to reappear again) and  joined a fitness challenge weight management center which is really nothing more than an honest to god "army bootcamp" - the woman who owns it refuses to smile and the only time she speaks is to yell at you or tell you that your aren't doing an exercise properly (but I actually like her).  Well, I went to sign up on Sunday and about a group of 10 or so was there for orientation.

Once the orientation was thru, we had to have a public weigh in and everyone heard the "Sargent" yell out your weight and body fat %.  Well, low and behold, even though I'm still not at goal (need to lose about 26 lbs more) I was the smallest person there and in fact, while building the courage to join up and give my pep talk to myself (I think I can, I think I can, I know I can...) I lost one lbs (which is kind of funny - sweat it right off out of fear!)  NEVER in all of my life have I EVER been the smallest person in the group - usually the largest or 2nd largest.  This was an awsome WOW moment for me however dont think for a moment that I was feeling smug - I was just in awe that I was able to come this far.

Wish me luck and hopefully next time I blog, I tell you I met goal!!!

1 year and 23 days post surgiversary

Dec 06, 2009

12/06/09

Hello all

I meant to post my 1 year surgiversary and doctor's follow-up however I failed to do so.

When I went ot see Dr. Cha - his scale showed that I weighted 170.0 lbs which really did nothing for my ego since my scale at home said I was at 167.0 lbs.  No biggy - I will overcome  :0)
He said I'm doing good however I am platauing because I haven't been exercising however I hurt my shoulder and kind of put me out of commission - I do have a treadmill and he pointed out to me that I dont need my shoulder to walk - damn, he's tough!  No game playing with him  :0)

I stepped on the scale today and I am now at 162.0 lbs which makes me happy - I fit into a 12 petite nicely and can get into a 10 regular however I still have 17 lbs to go to reach my goal of 145 lbs.  I think I will make it because I returned to work the early part of November and found that I am losing weight now - off my platau thank GOD!

Well, all is well and I wish everyone luck on their WL journey!

9 months surgiversary

Aug 16, 2009

Well, on 8/13/09, it was my 9 month surgiversary!  I have lost a total of 70.7 lbs - though I feel I have been having a very serious slowing of weight loss, I am still happy with my results.  As a matter of fact, I just started losing some weight this week (approximately 4 lbs) and am ever so hopeful to be off the never ending platau!

Looking back, this is the best thing I have ever done for myself and wish I would have done it when I was younger - however, I'm just glad I finally did it!  I am still learning my body from this RNY.  My husband acts like an infatuated teenager with me and I must say, it helps the ego  :0)

I hope everyone is well and look forward to everyones posts on their success!

Good luck all!

5 Days before my seven month Surgiversary - WOW MOMENT

Jul 07, 2009

Well everyone,

I have to share a total WOW MOMENT with you.

I was layed off as of 4/22/09 and have been actively pursuing job leads.  Well, I finally decided to go to a head hunter and was to meet with her on Tuesday, 7/7/09.  Well, my sister Kim, is a very good seamstress so I called her and asked her if she would hem one of my suits because I knew the pants were long due to the weight loss.

Well, low and behold, I took two suites over for alterations and they were huge on me (good will - here they come).  Anyways, my sister said - ya know, hold on a minute and came back with two of her suits.  Now, you need to realize that I have never been able to fit in any of my two sisters clothes so when she told me to try them on - I laughed and said "yeah, right' - she talked me into it and I was surprised to see that the suits fit and GUESS WHAT - they were a size 12!!!!  Yahoo!!!

I uploaded a picture of me in the suite that I chose to wear - let me tell you, I felt good in the interview and much more self-confident (though I still need to work on the confidence part because I still see the fat chic in my head).

Just wanted to share my WOW MOMENT and wish everyone their own happy WOW MOMENT too!

6 month Surgiversary

May 15, 2009

Hi All!
Wednesday, 5/13/09, was my 6 month surgiversary.  I have lost a total of 67 lbs however it seems overnight I have gained +3 lbs - how the hell does that happen?  I started a food journal to be safe.
Anyways, my surgeon says that I am his poster child - have had no problems (thank God!).
My husband likes my new look however I find him a little too attentitive if you know what I mean...
I am down to a size 14 and can actually put on jeans fresh out of the dryer and button them without sucking in my stomach and doing deep knee bends.  In fact, I can take them off at the end of the day with out unbuttoning or unzipping them - my sister tells me that makes me a "true" 14 and I may be closer to a 12 however I'm afraid to even try that size yet.
Pre-op - I was in a size 3x shirt and 24 pants and now I am in a large shirt and 14 pant - I could probably go to a medium shirt but I'm not pushing it yet.
I feel good and hope to shed my overnight weight quickly - does anyone else experience this type of weight gain?  Just curious.

3 Days to my 5 month Surgiversary

Apr 10, 2009

Well, I have three days to go before I hit the 5 month mark of being post-op.  I have lost approximately 60 lbs and I feel great.  I still am still tired however my back, hip, and leg is 98% pain free - if I didn't get my RNY, I would have been using a cane very shortly to walk.

I uploaded a current pic of me and I have to say - I didn't realize how much I changed - I guess it's that "fat mindset" and I will always see the "big girl" in the mirror - I am my worst critic.

Well, next week I will probably be out of a job which is totally depressing however I am not going to let it get me down.  I am going to hit the pavement (web) and keep submitting my applications - in between that and cleaning the house, I plan on really exercising religiously.  I have to force myself to eat because of nerves but I have to admit - I'm very happy with the weight loss!

Hope all is well with everyone and look forward to reading up on you all (everyone needs to update their pics)!!!

Husband took me shopping

Mar 05, 2009

Well, it was kind of funny....
I was getting ready for work in the a.m. and got dressed, looked in the mirror, and thought, you look good, Pat!
Well, I went down to the kitchen and my husband was drinking his morning coffee and told him good bye and asked him if I looked ok and turned to leave - well at that my husband goes "my god woman, you got a baggy butt, I'm buying you some pants when you get home tonight!"
Well, he kept to his word and when I got home he took me to K&G's - it's an outlet for suits and dress clothes.  I found four suits for $20 (marked down from $100 to $80) so I thought I got a real good deal.  The best part of the whole thing was that two of the suits that I bought were 14W - havent seen that size for about 30 years literally - made me feel real good.
Well, thought I would share  :0)

3 month post-op visit

Feb 10, 2009

I just seen Dr. Cha - my surgeon for my 3 month post-op visit
I am losing on average 3-4 lbs a week (I feel like a slow loser).  Doc says that I am right where I should be and that I look good - don't worry about how much I am losing at this point - I will have another 6 to 8 months of quick weight loss and then I will have to work at it.
My intake is at 6 oz and I should maintain at this level from this point forward.
I am not having any issues besides having a hard time trying to digest multi-grains (difficult for me) or red meats so I eliminated from my intake until further notice
I am only walking w/Leslie Sansone and he has instructed me to start resistance training
My son (I am going to attempt) is buying the p90x workout and my doc said that I can do it but it is a tough workout however I shouldn't worry about injuring myself - I definitely need to work my stomach - if I can get away without any additional surgeries (extra skin) I will be extremely happy.
Next f/u is in 3 months - hopefully I will have another 40 lbs lost  :0)

Mini-Goal Met

Feb 01, 2009

Well, I met my mini-goal of breaking the 200 lbs mark by 1/31/09
I stepped on the scale yesterday morning and it said 199 lbs (I stepped on it a second time and it said 198.8 lbs) however I'll stick w/the first read.  It make me feel good that I met this mini-goal and made me aware of how lucky I am to have the support that I receive from family and friends.  I am go glad I got my RNY!

5 days to goal

Jan 27, 2009

Well  I have 5 days left before my goal to break the 200 lbs mark is up and I have been struggeling w/2 lbs - they just want to hang on for dear life!  I will be exercising w/Leslie Sansone for the next 5 days and hope to make goal - that will be depressing if I miss it because of 2 lbs.

My husband has been happy with my results (very touchy feely) - he wants to take a picture of me for my journal however I wont do it until I meet my goal - then I will be more than happy to see the change.  If I break the 200 lbs benchmark, I will have lost 43 lbs.  I am averaging about 4 lbs a week but I feel that is really slow compared to some of the other people I have read about on Obesity Help.  I just figure I am a slow loser however consistent, right?

I have been feeling good - My intake is between 6 and 7 oz's now and I am 10 weeks out post RNY surgery.  I have been having a hard time with the water intake and don't know why - I use to chug water constantly before my surgery however after the surgery, I just have the hardest time.  I know that if I drink it will flush the fat so I have to get focused - I have been drinking alot of herbal decaff tea but I dont know if that counts.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Bye
