I found out yesterday when I was at the surgeons office that when they did a brain scan during my coma that they found a frontal parietal mengioma (brain tumor) that will most likely require surgery. I am scared to death. I go to the nuerologist on April 2nd. I knew that they found something on my brain but finally yesterday had them write it down for me. I am thinking I never should have done that because all the information I am finding scares me so much. Maybe sometimes ignorance is bliss.
I just cant imagine having another surgery after all I have been through so far. Apparently my sister spoke with a nuerologist that she knows and they told her because of my age surgery is a definate. If I were in my 60's when they found it they probubly wouldnt operate but the fact that I am only 39 they would.

My Surgery
Mar 21, 2007
I went in on Feb 5, 2007 for my RNY to Lahey in Burlington, MA. I came through the initial surgery fine (or so I am told because I dont remember) and the next day they saw that there was a blockage and had to take me back into the operating room. Apparently I aspirated on Barium which caused some major complications. I had to be put on a ventolator and put into a drug induced coma for about 2 weeks. Then they had to do a tracheotomy so that they could get me off the vent and out of the coma. I am still unsure on many of the details since I have been too upset to be told the whole story. The last thing I remember was before the 1st surgery until about 20 days later.
I am doing well now but still have alot of Physical therapy ahead of me due to the muscle and endurance loss that I suffered in the coma and during my month in the hospital. I have lost 36 pounds and the surgeon is very happy with my recovery now. I guess it was very bad for a while there.
I do want to clarify that this could have happend with any surgery not just RNY the complications were from aspirating which could have happened if my arm was being operated on. I dont want to scare any one with my story.
