Has it been this long already? 7 years out.

Sep 30, 2012

Well I have been one very busy woman over the past years.  I moved in 2008 to Kentucky and establishing our own businesses.  I have put my nursing license on hold for the time being.
I have been gaining weight over the past few years and have gotten back to 178 pounds recently.  This surgery is a tool but sometimes you can put the tool in a tool box and forget it until something is broke.
I was broke.....I now am finding myself again and making time for me. I joined Weight Watchers about three months ago and have lost 20 pounds.  I am feeling better than I have for quite awhile now.  Getting the proper protein, vitamins and nutrients.  I am glad for this program. I never thought I would have to ever join this program ever again but am glad it is there to help me.
Since last blogging, I have had two of my sons graduate from high school and two now in college.  Next year my youngest will be starting to drive.

Kentucky - Home Sweet Home

Sep 26, 2009

Well, its been quite awhile since my last post and so much has happened!
We are situated in Kentucky now for the last year and a half. The boys are adjusted well to their new environment. Business is going very well...gotta love those Big Mac's.
Found a great doctor here that put me on Savella for the Fibromyalgia. It is working very good for relief of pain. Side effects are going to have to be tolerated to be painfree.
I have put some weight on since coming to Kentucky...is it the food, the environment change, the new medication, the new lifestyle or what?  I am still at a seam popping size 8 but still very comfortable with where I sit on weight.
Will be starting aerobic classes next week that they offer in town.
I am very busy with the restaurants, teaching the new employee's and managers and also with our church. I actually lead a group of women and young ladies in a canopy ministry.  What a release this is for  and a definite gift from God.

Kentucky Bound

Jan 31, 2008

So much planning and packing going on here! My family and I are planning to move in about 4 - 6 weeks to Kentucky.
We are purchasing three McDonald's Restaurants there and are very excited to finally begin working for ourselves soon.
Yes, gastric bypass patients eat at McDonald's too!
We are now in process of putting our house on the market and will be making another trip down there to look at yet more houses! What an exciting time but it is pretty nerve racking too!
I am trying to pace myself so that I don't have more flares of the fibromyalgia with all the work and added stress!
Will write more when I have a chance.

Holiday Aftermath!

Jan 03, 2008

Wow has this been a very busy time for me this past year! I have dealt with some health issues (not associated to the WLS). I now am dealing with having Fibromyalgia. It can be a huge pain! I find when I over do, I pay for it! The holiday's have taken their toll this year!
I am finally mending from a very busy time during December. I went on the cruise and had a blast! Came back to leaving a couple days later to have our last interview with McDonald's in Raleigh North Carolina.
Upon returning from this trip, I was right in the heat of the Christmas planning.
It didn't help to get cold during this time followed by flu-like symptoms. I spend many days in my room. Thank the Lord that my boys are very self-sufficient and were able to occupy themselves with their new game systems.
We are now planning a trip to Kentucky this coming week-end to look at houses for a possible move to the area.
My focus is now on getting the decorations down and getting ready to put our house on the market. Alot of packing and prepping.
What an adventure 2008 is going to be!
My weight has crept up lately since I have been started on medication for the Fibromyalgia. I went as high as 143 but now find the scale coming back down to 138 again.
I need to get my walking habits back in line once this cold snap goes.
I will probably drop more weight....I find I am constantly cleaning, painting or touching something up around the house.
Til next time.

Vacation, Vacation, Vacation!

Feb 20, 2007

I had my two-year check up yesterday. I am maintaining at 135. The doctor was very pleased. I have not walked for quite awhile due to the darn cold weather (extreme cold). I don't do the cold very well anymore, I guess its the lack of insulation.
2007 is going to be a great year!
I have three vacations spaced throughout the year - Florida for two weeks (yeah, out of the cold in just under two weeks), Las Vegas in July, and the grand finale (drum roll here) a cruise to Grand Cayman and Jaimaica! My girlfriend is getting married in Jamaica and has asked me to be her maid of honor! I am taking my oldest son along for his 16th birthday present! We are going to have a blast!
This year could be the year that a big portion changes! My husband and I are looking into purchasing our own business and it looks like it will start to happen this fall. A move could be in store for us!

My love of clothes! What an obsession!

Jan 18, 2007

I am now feeling better since my last entry.  I take one iron pill three times a week.
The holiday's were a blur and now quickly over. I had a wonderful time with my family and made some great memories.
My holiday eating got me into trouble a little and I gained about seven new/old friends. I officially have gotten rid of these pounds and am back on track.
The cookies and leftovers are now out of the house. The fruit bowl is now replenished and invites frequent visitors. My refrigerator now has a great supply of green veggies, a bowl of ice cold carrots sticks ready at all times for the taking.
New Years resolutions??? I have none this year.  This is the first year that I didn't say......I am going to start a diet and lose twenty pounds.
What a difference two years makes.
My new birthday will be coming up next month...post op two years.  This has been quite a ride and I have loved just about every minute of it. My weight is stable at 135 and I am very comfortable and happy with it at this point.  If it gets much lower than this I begin to look haggered and drawn. I want to look healthy and energetic!
My new clothing store that I have been frequenting is the Limited. I just love the styles and the way they make me feel. They are little pricey but it is well worth it. I finally can fit into the sizes they offer in this store. I fit comfortable in a size 6 pants and a small top. I have actually bought a few clothes out of the kids section at a few stores.  Who would ever have thought?

November 2006

The labwork results have come back.....no lymes disease!  Everything looks good. So now what is the problem and why am I so tired and fatigued?
After reviewing my eating habits and having nothing else to blame for the fatigue, I can only summize that I am not getting enough protein in a day.  Starting yesterday I began watching alot closer at the amount of junk I am eating compared to protein. (Carbs vs. Protein) I have started to remove those nasty buns and breads from the sandwiches and attempting to get more salads in.
This weekend I will attempt to get back into my walking routine after a couple of days of additional protein.  Hope and pray for my more energetic self to be back soon!

November 2006

Nov 11, 2006

I am offically getting over some type of viral infection that pretty much got me down for days.
Prior to this illness, I have noticed over the past two months a feeling of extreme fatigue and exhaustion. I am awaiting the results of my lab work. My PCP is giving me a work up to be sure I didn't get lymes disease back during the Labor Day holiday. I got bit by something that left an egg sized welt behind my ear that lasted a couple of weeks.
Let's hope that it is only a little anemia that an iron pill will take care of.
I have not walked in several weeks. All I can do in the mornings is manage to get my tired rear out of bed to get ready for work and out the door I go.
Is this what turning 40 is all about? If it is, I don't want anything to do with it and want to go back to 39!
My weight is stable but my eating habits are a little to be desired these days. I need to get back on the stick.

September 2006

Sep 17, 2006

9/18/06 -- Officially I am now 40 years old. What a great year I have had! I am so happy with my personal life, as well as my professional life too. I went for my final follow-up appointment for my tummy tuck. Everything looks great and I am 100% healed now too. Pictures were taken for my breast lift during this appointment. Whenever I am ready for it, all I have to do is say so and the office will submit my information. I didn't get weighed in at this office visit.
Here's a picture of Dr. Elias and myself!

8/15/06 -- Another 15cc's gone. I only have to go back in two weeks to check the progress of drainage. Will this well ever run dry?? I am really starting to feel well again. I still have puffiness but feel pretty good. I have been walking 4 miles, six days a week. Training for the new job is going well. I am looking forward to being out of orientation and getting out and on my own. My eating habits have suffered not getting my normal amount of fluids in the day and eating at fast food (though I try to eat healthier with a salad). I need to get a small cooler for my car to carry my lunch and cold liquids for the day on the road.
Did not make it to the support group meeting this month, again. I needed to get to church for the spiritual guidance I need these days. I have put the date for the next meeting on my September calendar. I hope to make then.
