Well, today is my one year anniversary.  As of the scale this morning, I have lost 107.4 lbs (261.4) and am loving every minute of it.  I feel very good.  I have not had any complications from my surgery.  I eat like I'm suppose to (most of the time) and try to exercise 5 days a week for 50 minutes.  The goal my surgeon set is 200.  So, I have another 60 to go til I reach his goal.  I have so much confidence now that I will achieve it.

I know I haven't updated in a few weeks but all is done now.   I went and weighed in on Monday, Oct. 6th and had lost 9.7 of the 10 lbs the surgeon wanted.  The nurse was a little apprehensive about it at first, but then decided it was ok.  All was a go.  My mom and I wen to the hospital on Tuesday at 5 am.  I was taken back around 5:30 and surgery was scheduled for 7:30.  I was so nervous about being put to sleep but when the time came, I didn't feel anything.  They wheeled me back to the OR and after getting on the table, I don't remember anything else except for waking up in recovery.  I was very sore afterwards but it has eased up.  The first few days I just sat a home and either walked or slept.  I had another dr appt Friday morning so I go up and went out for it.   The first time since Tuesday I had been outside.  It was fine though.  And yesterday, my Mom and I went to the grocery store and a couple of other places and I drove all day.   My incisions are doing ok.  I get to take the bandage off the big one today and see how it looks.  The others are healing fine.  Actually, they have started to itch.  That's a good sign.  Anyway, I have to go back to work tomorrow.  Still figuring out what I am going to take to eat.  Will keep updating........

I went yesterday for my pre-op visit with the surgeon.   It went well.....other than being at his office for 4.5 hours!!  I only saw him for like 20 minutes.   In the meantime, I was sitting in the waiting room.   Overall, went really well.  I scheduled my surgery......October 7th at 7:30am.  Found out I have to lose 10lbs by then.  I hope I can do it.   I wonder if they will postpone it if I haven't.  Well, I am going to try really hard to lose it by then.  I have been reading the binder of information they gave me getting ready for life post op. All seems very doable....we'll see.  I'll keep you informed of my 10 lb weight loss....cross your fingers.

So I went Friday and had the pre-op tests done.   I was so nervous.  I had really never had any tests like that done...so I was scared.  I had an ultrasound, Chest X-ray, Upper GI, EKG and some oxygen test.  All were so simple.   I was freaking out for nothing.   The only one I didn't like was the upper GI.  That white chalky stuff was the pits....I almost gagged twice.  But the others were a piece of cake.  Before the tests, I had to do my lab work.   Which, by the way, consisted of 7 vials of blood and urine.   That's right, 7 vials.  My hand was starting to tingle....I had never given that much blood at one time.   So now I sit and wait.....as soon as the surgeon's office get the results, they will call and make an appointment with the surgeon.   After that, surgery I hope.  Well, we will just wait on their call.  Let you know how the surgeon's appointment goes. 

Well, I received my approval letter Wednesday in the mail.  I was so happy.  I called the surgeon's office and she said that once they have their copy they would call me.   Well, she called Friday afternoon.   She set up my Labs and testing for Friday, Sept 5th.  I'll post after Friday and let you know how it went.....I'm so excited.   Surgery is just around the corner.   :-)

On August 11th, I called my surgeon's office to make sure they received all the stuff from the OB/GYN's office.  The nurse there said yes but instead of sending my charts, the doctor just added the dates and weights to the letter.  She wasn's sure if the ins. would accept it but would send it anyway.   Oh, I was so freaking out.  So, I called my OB/GYN's office again and left a message for the nurse to call me again.  I know that receptionist is bound to be getting tired of me sooner or later...lol.  She called me back and I explained to her what the other nurse said and she was so nice about it.  She said she would fax over the charts in case they needed them for the Insurance.  She is so sweet about the whole thing.   So now I wait.   It has been a week since she was suppose to send in the stuff, and I am getting antsy every day.....I just want to hear a yes or no soon.  I'll keep you informed.

Today I called my OB/GYN office and had the nurse call me back.   When she did, she said that the charts and letter were done and she just faxed them to the surgeon.....yeah!!  She had done it for me already....I was so glad.   After lunch, I called the surgeon's office to see if they got it and she said all faxes go to his desk before they get sent to her to be filed.   She said if I needed anything else she would let me know.....I hope not.  Hopefully it will be sent to the insurance co and be approved real quick.  I'll keep you informed.

Yesterday, I went for my nutritional assessment.  It went really well.  I didn't know what to expect but it was really good.  She just asked me a couple of questions about the diets I have tried, about my family, and went over the diet after the surgery.  Only took an hour and came back to work.  Now I only have 2 things left on my checklist.....my weight charts from my OB/GYN (which are done and ready to be faxed) and my letter of recommendation from my doctor (which I will be calling and bugging Friday when she returns).  Then all my stuff can be submitted to ins.  I can't wait.....I get antsy every day.  Well, I let you know when those 2 things have been done.

Well, yesterday, my mom and I went to our first consultation at the surgeon's office.  Everything was fine on my end.   I turned in all my paperwork they had given me and answered a few health questions.  My mom, on the other hand, now has a ton of things to do.  They gave her a checklist from her insurance company to do in addition to their checklist.   I hope she can do it all and not lose motivation.  I only have 3 things left on my checklist to do.  I need a nutritional assessment, which I have scheduled for Monday, 7/28.  And I have to have a letter of recommendation from my doctor and my weight charts sent over.   I have a call into her office so hopefully they will be calling back today.  I am getting so excited the more this process goes.   Well, I will let you know how the nutritional assessment goes on Monday.

Well, I had my psych assessment today.  I guess it went ok.  The dr was very nice and made me feel very relaxed.  They had emailed me the paperwork so I had it filled out before I got there.  I couldn't believe all the questions they asked.  It really took alot of remembering.  So, I hope he recommends me for the surgery.  I also got a call from the surgeons office and they moved up my consultation.....I was so happy.  They moved it up a week so now it is on 7/23.  I plan on calling my OB/GYN tomorrow and having my records sent to the surgeon's office, so that part will be done.  I feel like I am moving right along....
