My name is Mashaundra Steele but I go by Pearl. I have been overweight since I had my second child 14 years ago. I gained 81 pounds when I was pregnant and have only lost a little weight since then. I didn't think I would be eligible for WLS because I'm not quite 100 lbs overweight but because of the high cholesterol and lower back pain, my insurance approved it. I am only 4'11" and I have a small body frame with lots of weight pushing down on it. I lost my Dad in June this year at the age of 57. I started the process in September when the suggestion was made to lose the weight through surgery. I was approved right away due to the high cholesterol that I have battled for about 10 years or so now. I live in Killeen, TX and have 3 children. I have been married for 18 years and I met my husband in middle school!! I am originally from Flint, MI and miss living in the cold climate. I should have my surgery date tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. I will keep you posted.
