Everything is great

Dec 04, 2010

It's a little over 2 weeks and so far things are going great.  I've lost a little over 10 pounds and we joined Summit Health.  We've gone 3 times and I'm walking about 30 - 40 minutes.  Going to restaurant for first time tonight.  Mexican.  So this should be a challenge.  Beans and cheese  here I come!!

surgery great - on losers bench

Nov 26, 2010

I sailed thru the surgery and have had a pretty uneventful recovery.   Struggling to get in the protein like everyone else.  Finally lost all the hospital fluid gain and 7 more pounds.  woo hoo

pre-ops went great!

Nov 09, 2010

I'm so excited that the pre-ops went great.  I could just feel the Lord with me all thru the day.  Upper GI was way easier than I thought it would be.  Unless they call with some "finding" from Monday, I am good to go.

Steph is strugging some but I think she will do well as time goes on.  7days to go and counting!!

Yea!  Finally have a date.  All the pre op appointments are made and now I just need to get going on the walking and losing some extra weight before surgery.  A little nervous now.

Finally talked to accounts at Dr. Inman's

Sep 22, 2010

Yes!  I finally talked to Melissa in Patient accounts and she said my chart is with Heather now in surgery scheduling.  Now I am on pins and needles waiting for my date.  At least I know I am where I want to be.

No More Diet COke

Sep 13, 2010

Today is my 4th day without a Diet Coke.  (3 - 4 a day habit for 20 years) Yesterday on the way home from Church I was having quite the withdrawal.  I drank decaf tea for breakfast instead of one with caffeine.  What was I thinking?  A nice Stash Blueberry Ice tea with caffeine helped my withdrawal quite a bit.  When I get a surgery date, I will start weaning off caffeine.  I have been trying to get this monkey off my back for years.  Now I know I can kick it!!

the adventure begins

Sep 08, 2010

Wow, what an adventure.  My head is spinning with all the info I have been putting in there.  I am a compulsive researcher on the computer and with books too.  So much to learn.  Since I am self-pay, I'm not sure what the next step in this whole process will be.  My daughter, Stephanie, is also having it with Dr. Inman.   No insurance to hear back from, so I think they should call me soon to at least tell me it has gone to the surgery scheduler.  I'll call tomorrow or Friday to see if I can talk to someone other than a machine.

I am already buying lots of things in preparation.  I bought two huge bottles of MAX Protein powder from GNC.  It's pretty tasty.  We found some Toroni SF syrups at Walmart.  I am trying to get in 64 oz. of fluids.  It is going to be really, really hard.  I'm up twice a night now going to the bathroom.  I've only had 1 Diet Coke a day since last Wednesday!!  That is huge.  (Down from 4 a day).  I'm supplementing caffeine with tea but I plan to cut it off completely except for chocolate protein drinks when I get a date.

My goal is to walk every day and lose 10 pounds before the surgery.  I also found some breathing exercises they say would be helpful.  I'm getting antsy about hearing something and it's only been 1 week!  I'm impatient.
