Made it through surgery! Yay! Basically went without a hitch. One minute they hooked up my IV and were getting ready to send me to the OR, the next thing I knew it was over with. When they opened me up they found a previously undiagnosed hernia and some material from under the abdominal wall had bunched up and made its way through the herniation, but they were able to repair that during the course of my surgery and complete the operation as planned. My surgeon, his team, and the nursing staff at the hospital were all fantastic, and made the recovery relatively easy. I got home from the hospital barely 48 hours after the completion of my surgery, and am trying to take it easy (somewhat), though I've been feeling so good it's been easy to overdo it a bit, especially with my kids. I'm making sure I get out for at least one good walk each day, and I'm just taking it one step at a time. I'm so thrilled that I did this. I have not felt hungry since having my surgery, and it's been a challenge just to get down enough protien shakes and water to keep my healthy and hydrated. I'm already down 8 lbs since coming home from the hospital two nights ago, and I'm just more convinced than ever that I did the right thing by having this surgery.
