I have always struggled with my weight since I was in about Grade 4 at school. I had a couple of thin years around 18 (mostly due to partying and dancing I think)...not eating and sleeping much in my younger & more energetic days!

Since those days I have tried everything....Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Ultra Lite, Lite N Easy, Calorie Counting, Tony Ferguson, Personal Trainer, Duromine & Zenical....none which I can stick to for long...and if I do the minute I stop I go straight back to the old bad habits. I am a boredom eater and definately and emotional eater. I had finally lost 6kgs (which I was proud of but then gave up smoking in January this year and gained over 10kg back in 5 weeks!!! (which made it so tempting to take it back up again...but I haven't). I have suffered depression from my weight and just for once in my life would like to feel like a "normal person" who food and weight does not rule my every waking thought. I am a single mum of a gorgeous 2 1/2 yr old daughter and want to be healthy for her. I would also hopefully then be able to meet someone nice to settle down with. The weight has taken alot of my self confidence away when it comes to meeting a guy.

I started researching WLS after a friend of mine lost quite a bit of weight after lap band surgery, so I went looking for a surgeon to talk to about getting it done, having a BMI of under 35 I was concerned the surgeons would not operate on me (being too light....I guess theres a first time for everything hey!! lol Never been told that before!), anyway Dr France discussed VSG with me and we set a date straight away. He also referred me to this site which I have lurked in for a while and it has only confirmed that I have made the right choice. I am looking forward to a healthy, thinner and happier life!
