Doin' good!

Oct 28, 2011

I really need to make myself blog here more often.  I write so much on the daily threads that I forget about my blog.  However, I'm just past 8 months out and things are going so well for me.  I am ever so grateful that I had this surgery.  My life has improved ten-fold since last February.

I started my journey at 275, give or take a pound, depending on which scale I was on.  I think the doctor's scale said 279.  This morning I weigh 192.  That's 83 pounds in 8 months.  I'm amazed.

I feel so much healthier!  That was my main goal in having the surgery, of course.  I needed to improve my health.  My blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my blood sugar is normal, and my knees don't hurt anymore!  If I never lost another pound, this surgery would be worth it in terms of my health alone.

But I am also thrilled to be back in "normal" sized clothes again!  Today I wear a size 16.  I am so happy to be here!  My goal is to get all of the "X's" out of my closet, and I've almost done that!  Most everything in my closet is a size L now.  Seeing as how I'm 5'10", a size Large is a good, normal size for me.  I hope that I will continue to lose down into a size 12-14, but I'm okay with things as they are right now.

So, I'm happy and feeling very good, both physically and mentally, right now.  WLS is not for everyone, but for me, it has been a literal life-saver.  I'm happy to comply with the new dietary restrictions if it means I can continue to live healthy and feel so good about myself.  I thank God every time I see a morbidly obese person at the store or in a parking lot that He opened the door for me to have this surgery.  Amen!
