Keep It Pushing!

Mar 19, 2009

Ok, here we are, 7 months away from from my 2 year anniversary. WOW!! I never thought I'd get here. 250 lbs gone and working my butt off on this last 50 lbs. Still not quite at my goal but closer than I have been since I was 14 years old!! I am still updating pics, so be sure and check them out. I have lost fat but added muscle, so the scale s not moving that much, but WHO CARES!!! DAMN I LOOK GOOD!!! LOL! I've never been this happy with my appearance. Thank you GOD!!

I hope that I continue to be an inspiration for those trying to walk this journey. There are so many that inspired me. God Bless you all!

One year & 3 months

Jan 28, 2009

Still can't believe it! My life has changed so dramatically that it goes beyond words.

From here to there:
74 waist to a 50 waist
8X shirt to a 4X and some 3X's
26 inch neck to a 17 inch
Size 17 shoes to a size 15
13 inch wrist to a 9 inch
Size 17 ring to a 14 (Gotta get my wedding band sized....AGAIN!!)

To be able to reach some of the "small" goals I had has been amazing. Being able to walk into a room and not have to worry about finding a chair with no arms that can hold me. Being able to cross my legs and put on shoes and socks without sweating or breathing hard. To be able to actually play with my kids when I take them to the park instead of just watching them. Being able to shop almost anywhere, even thought I am still well over 300 lbs. It amazes me to buy t shirts from Walmart and JC Penney's. Shopping anywhere that doesn't have BIG & TALL in the title. I have had so many people write me saying how I "Inspired" them in their journey. I never thought in a million years that I would inspire anyone when it comes to weight. My wife, my children, my friends all are doing things different to change their eating habits and all around health. Deb and I are sitting at the dinner table each night after cooking our meal. We may eat out once every couple of weeks and even then, what we eat has changed. My friend Trina (#1 Mack Mama) truly blessed me by buying me a scale that my wife and I used daily. LOL! I had to work to get under 375 lbs to be able to use it, but it pushed me and I truly appreciate her for that.

I still have a long way to go, but I couldn't be happier with my results so far. I hope and pray that I can continue to inspire those who think there is no hope for their situation. Believe me, if I can do this from 615 lbs to 372, anyone can do it!! God is good and he has no favorites. What he's done for me, he's faithful enough to do it for you.  Stay blessed!

ONE YEAR LATER!!!

Oct 31, 2008

Well, its been one year! 235 lbs GONE FOREVER!!! Thank you God! I have done more than I ever imagined in the first year. I have not always done what I should have with this tool, but I have still had amazing results! Really makes me want to kick myself in the ass for cheating! MAN!! There is no telling where I would be if I had.

But...I digress!! LOL! I ain't complaining in the least. I am smaller than I have been since I was a 17 yr old High school sr. I have more energy than I can ever remember having. Running and playing with my kids, hanging out with my wife, just doing the normal things in life. Couldn't ask for more.

This has become my ministry. to tell others that they can do it too! I now have the tools to help those before they get to this point, but I can also help someone see whats coming within the journey. I love it. This has inspired me to become an outspoken advocate for WLS as well as an encouragement for anyone struggling with their weight. I will never go back!

DOUBLE CENTURY MARK!!

Aug 19, 2008

ONE WORD........WOW!!

I can't believe it!! I lost another 11 lbs in the 3 wks since my 9 mth appt. it is official I have now lost 200 lbs since October 25, 2007!!!! My life is an amazing one! This journey has had its ups and downs, but thank God that MOST of the downs has been my weight!! HAHAHA! I was playing around on OH and found my original profile created in 2002. My tone was so sad. I sounded miserable. Who knew that it would be 5 years later before I would have the surgery and change my life. Here's a portion for you to check out:

Well, Today is April 30, 2002. I have now received an appointment date with dr Willie Melvin. He came recommended to me by my PCP, Dr Stephen Sauceman. I really trust his judgement. My evaluation is June 7th. I tried to get in to see Dr John Wright, but the closest date they could give was October 4th. I am excited and don't really know if I can wait that long. Everyday, I find myself imagining what I am going to look like. What am I going to feel like? Will I be able to see a major change right off. My wife is trying, but she has not been too supportive of the surgery. I decided that this is my decision. God has already told me his plan for my life and this is part of it. I am doing this for me. I am 29 years old, 6'5" tall and I have not weighed in a while, but I am pretty sure that I am well over 600lbs. I was born at 9lbs 9oz. and have been fat all my life. ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE!!! I can't take anymore. I realize that if I don't do something soon I will die in the next two years. God has too much purpose for me. He can't do it all in 2 years! I thank God for my friend Chasney who has been a wonderful encouragement to me as well as the support group "LOSERS" here in Chattanooga. Well, I will be back when I hear more. Hopefully, it will be alot sooner that I think.

My PCP at this time, Dr Stephen Sauceman, has since passed away with cancer. He was one of the best dr's I had ever had contact with. R.I.P. Doc!

My new goal is to lost another 20 lbs by my visit in October! I'll keep ya posted!

The New me!

Jul 23, 2008

Sorry it's taken so long since my last post. Its been kinda crazy around here, but here we go. I am now down to 426 lbs from 615 lbs!!! 189 lbs in 9 months. That is the smallest I've been since my Jr year in high school 19 years ago. My goal is to bust 200 lbs wide open by my one year surgiversary in October. I have gone from a 74 waist to a 54. From a 8x in shirts to a 4-5x (depending on the cut) You know how that is. I have gone from a size 17 shoe to a size 15....Whew! I guess thats enough for now. Be back soon! LOL!

Yea Me!!!

Feb 11, 2008

Wow!! Have I mentioned how much I love this??? HAHAHA! I am in the gym at least 3 days per week and working hard. I am seeing some results which is a definite motivator, but of course I can't wait to see the results by this summer. People I haven't seen in a while are noticing the difference. I LOVE THAT!!! I am sharing my surgery with some, but not all. I have lost a total of 145 lbs since last January and 125 lbs since surgery!! That's what I call a WOW moment!! LOL! My journey has inspired so many people. That has been a real blessing to me. My new supervisor has started working out and drinking more water. A friend of mine is working out and walking more. My Pastor has gotten a gym membership and is working with a trainer regularly. My wife is walking with me every weekend and even my kids are trying to eat differently. It means so much for them to acknowledge me as the reason for their changes. That feels good!! More info to come!!

Plateau Time

Jan 28, 2008

Ok, I've come to plateau time. I and at a total loss of 115 lbs since surgery. I am now working out 3 days per week and I am starting to see an increase in inches lost!!! Since I began hitting the gym a month ago, I have lost an additional inch in my arms, 3 inches in my chest, and 4 inches in my hips!! To be honest, that really makes up for the lack of weight loss. LOL! It lets me know that the gym is doing its job. I can't wait until this summer to see where I will be then. This has been an exciting process. I love my new life. I have energy that I haven't had in over twenty years. (NO JOKE)

More than I could've expected

Jan 01, 2008

WOW!! Where do I start? Its January 2, 2008 and I am exactly 10 weeks post op. I began working out at the YMCA last week and this morning I weighed in at 482 lbs. I have lost 113 lbs since surgery!!! 133 lbs since this time last year. My goal for 2008 is an additional 150 lbs. I am only 202 lbs from my total goal. I can't explain how great I feel. My energy is through the roof, my self esteem has sky rocketed and everything is only getting better!

THANK YOU LORD!!

Nov 01, 2007

I MADE IT!!! October 25th, at 1:00 PM, I had RNY Bypass!!
Things went off without a hitch. No Issues, No complications, and Almost no pain!! God is good all the time. Dr Sass and the staff at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga are awesome. There are not enough words to tell you how much I appreciate them for all that the did. They made my wife feel so comfortable and keep a constant check on her and gave her updates during my surgery.

We did not get a presurgery weight, so I can only go by the last weigh in two weeks before WLS. On 10-31-07, I had my follow up visit and found out that since then, I have lost an additional 38 lbs!! Bringing my total loss since 6-29-07 to 78 lbs. I am so excited! My Dr was amazed. I praise God for this tool and I will NOT let myself or anyone else down by not using it correctly.

Let's do it again!

Oct 24, 2007

Wow, Surgery was set for Monday the 22nd. It was a "No GO". No problem with anesthetic or BP. All of a sudden once they got me asleep, they were unable to get the breathing tube down my throat. (Can you believe that?) I go back in tomorrow the 25th and they will enter tube while i am still awake. They will numb my neck, nose and throat and then place breathing tube. It's been a long process, but God is still in control and he still has the final say. Look out for the next update.....I'm on my way to the loser's bench.
