Able to eat a LOT more!

Oct 03, 2007

Hi all-
things are good.  I am over 110 lbs down.  I started taking morning aerobics classes, which got the scale moving for a while, but for the first time, I actually gained two pounds from a careless weekend away.  Need to get back on track and keep the scale moving the other way!

102 lbs down!

feeling good!  haven't been able to move the scale in over 3 1/2 weeks, despite working out like a madwoman, but have also been able to eat more.  I hope this isn't the end of the weight loss journey, would still like to lose another 40 lbs or so.......

Been Awhile...but I'm Doing Fine!

Jun 20, 2007

Sorry so MIA lately.  Just been a busy bee with the new house, and our new little baby, Chloe.  She is now 6 months old and weighs 8.2 lbs.  She is a pug/chihuahua mix and we just love her to bits.  Weight loss is going well, down over 90 lbs, although alot slower at this point.  And no more throwing up, i have found i am able to eat pretty much anything I want, including pizza.  (only 1 piece, though). Just watching the portions and making sure I am working out as often as I can.  Joined the YMCA and hanging out at the pool on weekends.  Been getting alot of compliments from people I haven't seen in while, some of them stupidly saying, "Oh, did you have a baby?"  Idiots!  It is nice to shop at "normal" stores now, too!

New house, new figure

Apr 17, 2007

Well, my husband and I did it.  We had closing at the end of March, and moved into our new house in Suburban Philadelphia.  We really love it, but have so many boxes yet to unpack!  On the weight loss front, all is doing pretty well.  I am down over 70 lbs, but now that the move is over, I need to really get my butt back to the gym.  I was religious about it up until the end of March, and I have been on a "hiatus."  Plus, the weather around her stinks.  Where is spring???  Tietania (OH) and I went shopping last week, and I actually squeezed into some size 16s and 18s.  Big change from starting off at a 26.  Now, I can't wear any of my old clothes that don't have elastic waists.  This is going to be expensive!!!

It's Been almost 2 months- over 45 lbs down!

Mar 02, 2007

Well, after my little stint back in the hospital, I don't have much to complain about lately.  February was a busy month- and big news- my husband and I just bought our first house!  It is fantastic and I can't wait to live there!  Ugh...now just to deal with packing.

On another note- had my 2 month post-op visit with Dr. Boorse.  I am around 45 lbs down.  (depends which weight i use- pre-op or post-op b/c I gained 12 lbs in hospital, so this is using pre-op weight).  Clothes are finally starting to get baggy.  Sometimes I have a hard time with certain foods.  lately can't do eggs or toast, but can do peanut butter on a english muffin (great for lent).  I have also discovered wheat crackers with cheese when I need a little snack.

And, best of all, I met the greatest girl online through OH.  Turns out we have so much in common- and live around the corner!  Shout out to my girl, "Tietania", who is about 6 weeks ahead of me in surgery.  She is kind enough to let me borrow her clothes that she has grown out of, and she is a ton of fun to hang out with, too.

On a "TMI" note, I have gotten my period twice since surgery, an amazing fete for someone with PCOS.  (20 days apart, though, but whatever......) going to a repro endo sometime in april to see what is going on in there......

Spent my 30th B-day (1/29) in the Hospital :(

Jan 30, 2007

Had a great time with my girls on saturday, mani/pedis and painting pottery.  had a light dinner of scrambled eggs, then went to see a chick flick with them.  all in all, it was turning out to be a great birthday weekend.  Then, around midnight, when me and the out of town guests were sitting around in our PJs, i started to really feel sick.  by 1 am i was full fledge vomiting.  (which kills, btw, when your pouch is so small and you are still not completely healed from surgery 3 weeks prior).  called the surgeon, who said that if it persists, to go to the ER.  got to the LVH ER around 4am- got right in, and within 5 minutes I had an IV.  they did some x-rays of the bowel, no obstruction, so they made me drink some barium (even worse when you are sick).  Had a CT scan, and turns out I had an intestinal blockage, which expained the pain and vomiting.  They gave me some medicine to calm down the nausea and admitted me.  spent my 30th bday in the hospital, with an IV as bday cake.  But, at least I feel better.  Dr. said that intestinal blockages can happen with anyone after surgery, not just WLS patients.  He said not to consider this a complication, just a "minor setback."  seeing all of these people in the hospital, even worse than you, makes this statement ring true.  hopefully, though, I will have NO MORE "minor" bumps in the road, and it can be smooth sailing!!!!

happy/sad- 1/25/07

Jan 25, 2007

Well, here i am 3 weeks post op and happy yet sad.

Happy:   the day of surgery i weighed 289.6 and when i came home 3 days later, I weighed 302, so i am going to use that as my starting point.  I have been sailing through recovery- already dabbling in stage 3 (soft foods), such as toast and cheese.  I got a little cocky yesterday and ate cottage cheese and sugar free jam on toast too fast, and ended up being really uncomfortable and "barfed" it up.  Really all I did was cough a few times and what i had swalled came back up with a little mucus.  (sorry if gross, but blunt I am ..).  I am also happy because I weighed myself today and I am at 270.  that is 32 lbs lost since coming home from the hospital.  also, the hospital endochronologist took me off of glucophage for Type II diabetes, and my blood sugar has been below 140, most days around 120.  I thought this was phenomenal, since he told me that as long as it doesn't hit 200 I am okay.

Sad:  I have been having a pain in my left lower quadrant.   Called the surgeon's office yesterday, and she seems to think it is not "adhesions" since I am having normal BM's.  So, since I have PCOS, and I noticed a little spotting, I went to the GYN today.  He said that it could be cysts acting up, and i have to go in for some testing.  He also said that I am not out of the woods with diabetes, and that my fasting blood sugar of 124 this morning is high!  he also said that if i do start to ovulate normally, I will always have the PCOS syndrome.  He was shocked that the endo took me off of glucophage, since he seems to think i need to stay on it for tx of PCOS.  needless to say, I am frustrated and heartbroken, not to mention confused.  keep your fingers crossed that everything is okay.  the whole reason i had this surgery was to go off of meds, and to start ovulating so we can hopefully have kids one day.
