6 Week Post Op Update

Jan 22, 2010

So today officially marks week 6 post op (1 month and 2 weeks.....sounds much longer when I say it this way, lol) and things are going great.  I had my follow up appt with my surgeon on Wednesday and finally got full clearance to workout full force, YAY!!  The bad part of my visit was that I gained 2lbs and that is due to me eating 3 meals a day and not really being able to workout yet but that did not get me down b/c the scale could have said that I gained 20lbs but it didn't so oh well.  I guess I can also look at it as that I'm not losing weight in regards to pounds but I'm losing weight in inches but unfortunately I did not take any body measurements at the beginning of this process but that's ok.  I can tell that I've lost weight b/c I can feel it in my clothes and every time I put on something that fits a little bit looser than it did the last time I wore it, that's enough satisfaction for me.  My goal throughout this process is not to make myself feel upset or depressed if the scale says I've gained 1 or 2 pounds.  I've had enough depression in my life and I'm no longer going to let little small things like that get the best of me.  I'm also not a "daily weigher"......I truly only weigh myself when I have my fill appointments and that's when I will give my update on the amount of weight I've lost so in other words....I'm only updating my weight loss once a month.  Moving on.......my doctor did say to me that he could tell that I've lost weight in my stomach area and that it seems to be shaping up nicely and that really made me feel good.  I walked out that office feeling like a million bucks, lol.  I notice that I've lost weight in my stomach area b/c I can no longer lay/sleep on my left side b/c I can feel my port and it kinda hurts and it definitely is uncomfortable.  My concern with that is that if I'm having issues with my port now at my current weight then I can only imagine the issues I will have once I get to my goal weight.  I'm hoping that I will not need port revision surgery b/c that would kinda suck.  I did start working out on Wednesday and I've gone to the gym (3 days straight) everyday since then and it really feels good to be back.  My goal is to workout 5 days a week, Monday-Friday and since I started working out during me middle of the week, I'm going to workout for a total of 10 days straight until next weekend.  Then I'll be on the routine that I'm supposed to be on and things should be smooth sailing from there (hopefully).
