3 Months Out - Wow

Jul 15, 2010

I can't believe how fast the time has flown by!  I'm just over 3 months out and so far down about 53 pounds.  I think the thing that's surprized me the most is how some of my tastes changed.  I heard that might happen, but somehow I never really believed it.  I couldn't and still don't really get how the taste buds in my mouth could be so affected by the surgery on my belly.  But, let me say, tastes sure do change, sometimes as often as day-to-day.

There are days when I love the taste of something, only to have it again a few days later with a different result.  For me, who used to love breakfast foods, it's been a rough go.  I don't seem to like eggs much anymore no matter how I cook them.  The same for sausage, bacon, french toast, and pancakes.

Oh well, just when I'm starting to miss those things and feel sorry for myself I remember that I'm continuing to lose weight and I'm loving the smaller sizes I'm starting to wear.  In the end, that's what really matters.

Happy to say I have only been "sick" two times, both my fault for eating too fast.  It's been an adjustment to say the least to remember to slow down.  I've shoveled it in for years and now I have to stop and take a breath between bites.  It's been a learned behavior.
