Coming to terms after surgery

Jul 03, 2026

Hello, my name is Patti and I had bariatric surgery two years ago. I have had good things and not so good things happen as of the results of having this surgery. The good things are: I lost over a hundred pounds, I am no longer diabetic and have decreased my high blood pressure medicine. I am also able to fit into clothes I thought I would never be able to and I can take care of myself, my husband, and my grandchildren much better. The not so good things are: I had to be hospitalized for a week two Christmases ago with bleeding ulcers in my stomach. I have to watch any gluten or fatty foods because I now have gluten intolerance and possibly celiac disease. I feel very sick many times after eating and have to keep ondanstron nausea pills on hand at all times. My bowels are up and down. I have a really hard time drinking water as it makes me feel very full even when I drink just a small amount. All in all, I would say I am very glad I had the surgery, I am hoping to get my cravings under control more. I love snacking on chips.
