HIT FIRST GOAL!

Aug 17, 2008

I've hit my first goal weight of 250#, well actually I've passed it by 2 ounces and as we all know every ounce counts.  This is a journey let me tell ya, there for awhile and still every now and then I think what the heck have I done.  But the more I get use to my new eating lifestyle and can learning to read and listen to what my pouch and body are telling me and then making myself listen, it is getting easier.  But there are days that nothing really seems to stay with me and then there are days that eating is a breeze.  Learning to listen to your body and knowing when to stop makes are world of difference.  To anyone on this ride I will tell ya it's not easy, but it will all be worth it.  My next goal is 225# wow I didn't tthink I would ever see that number on my scale again.

Remember this is a tool not a cure!!!!

FINALLY HOME!!

Jun 30, 2008

Well after a 5 day stent in the hospital I was so happy to come home.  Surgery went good, just had a couple of little problems ( weird heart arrithymia and a blood clot in right leg).  I think the worse thing about this journey is not being able to discern between hunger and nausea, which is what I'm battling and having issues with.  I never thought I would look so forward to creamed soups (gastric steak dinner...lol)   I havent had much pain at all, but I get tired very quickly and weak.  Yesterday was a very rough day food wise and mentally, started thinking OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE!  But today is a musch better day, from what I hear I'll have days like this,, but they pass.  Its a learning process and a whole new lifestyle and new lifestyles are not easy in the beginning.  Ladies and Gents getting ready all I can say is hang in there!!!!

PRE-OP PROCEDURE
Well I had my IVC filter (for blood clots) inserted today, that was loads of fun...lol   Actually it wasn't that bad.  I had a wonderful nurse who never left my side, she knew I was very. very nervous and the radiologist was kind enough (I whined ) to give me alittle something to help me relax until they got everything started.  I think the hardest part was having to lay flat for 2 hours afterward.

As the day went on I have to admit my groin area where they went in at was pretty tender, felt like a deep muscle hurt, but livable pain no biggie.  But the more the day went on my right flank side really started to hurt, ok now I was starting to worry it was getting pretty bad.  It felt like I had a kidney infection or someone had kidney punched me super hard.  About 10:30pm I called the ER, but all they would say is they didn't know and to call my PCP, so I did just that.  As I decided to lay on the bed and wait for him to call me back, the pain subsided alittle, sitting and reclining no good, laying good.  He wasn't sure either since I had no fever or nausea.  He told me take a vicodin and call him in the morning if it was still pretty bad or to go to the ER if super duper bad.  Well morning came after a fitful night, the pain wasn't as bad, just only if I moved a certain way and the same with my groin area.  As the day went on things inproved although my back flank area is still tender and achy it's getting there.  But still not sure why.

I never really realized how many food commercials were on tv until this liquid diet.  And I swear my sense of smell is in extreme overload.   Funny when you can't have food how much you smell it, I don't remember the smells of places being this strong before.
