I am 45 years old and have been married for 22 years to a great guy.  I have lots of pugs and show dogs in confirmation and obedience.  I  moved to California from Canada to start a business.  Since I have been here I have gained 30 lbs.  I would diet and loose only to regain plus more....same old story.  I think it is the stress and the lack of excersize.  I have never eaten to relieve stress but I do get the "I just don't care" attitude when I do eat.  I get hungry and eat too much of the wrong thing.   I work long hours and 6 days a week.....being the boss kinda of sucks sometimes.

I am 5'7 and 230 lbs.  I did not even think that surgery was a possiblity until this year.  A friend I work with had RNY about 10 years ago.  At first I thought that "I would never have surgery".  After awhile I started to think about it and finally looked into it.  I was diagnosed with HBP (which made me feel old and fat).   I was not even sure that I qualified for the surgery since my BMI is under 40.  I talked with my PCP who was all for it.  I am with Keiser and thought that we could get coverage.  HA, after looking around I found SF laproscopy, Dr. Cirangle.  I met with him and he suggested the "verticle sleeve".  My friend that had RNY has lots of problems with her iron and calcium etc.  almost needing transfusions.  Dr. Cirangle said that 30% of patients that have RNY have absorption problems.  So Verticle Sleeve it is!

I have made the choice that I am not telling anyone (except my husband and friend that had the RNY) that I am having the surgery.  I am telling them I need a "repair" and gall bladder op.  I do not believe that they would be supportive.  I have fould that there seems to be alot of importance placed on "looks" in California.  Perhaps it is because of Hollywood.

My husband is very supportive.  I was worried about spending the money but he just wants me to be happy.  He has watched me suffer and stuggle for 20 years.  I can't think of anything else to say but I hope this works.

things I'm worried about:

not loosing weight....I know silly,      if I do loose....loosing very slowly....I know stupid.      Loosing my hair.....I know vain.   Having lots of saggy skin.....vain and stupid... Not being able to keep it off.    ok enough negatives.....

I will work on the positives later.
