Well where do i start? I just turned 32 years old in March, i have been working out consistently since Jan. and have had no real success. I am just so tired of this battle. I was talking to my Dad the week of my birthday, who has always worked out and watched his weight and he told me i should look in to the Lab Band...Huh???? I really couldn't believe it. Honestly i never in a million years would of thought that he would support me in getting WLS. I don't know why, he is very supportive however, he has always been able to lose the weight. He would gain a little and get it down again. He is very disciplined. I just figured he would be one of those people who said i was quitting. But both of my aunts have had RNY and are enjoying the results. Now I had to tell my mom..she has been there with me as i struggled my whole life. Always encouraging me and trying to keep me on track almost to much at times. She has seen the results of some of her co-workers who have not done the program or took their supplements so she was concerned I insured her that this was only a tool and I was still going to need her help. She is now very supportive and asking all kinds of questions.
I also have struggled with my weight all my life. I cant remember ever going to the non plus side of a store. Always watching what i ate, always on this or that diet. I have always been active "Thank You Jesus!" I played basketball and loved to work out in the gym. When i went to college i stopped working out. The pounds started adding up a before I knew it i was well over 200 pounds!!! ugh....I started working out again and have done so for about 4yrs. I lost 40 pounds, i think the most i ever lost....only to gain it all back.
So this is where the journey began i went home that day in march and got on the Internet and looked up everything i could on the Lab Band, I called my insurance they covered it cause my BMI was 47...huh how did that happen???? I made an appointment with my PCP and she was awesome, approved me and submitted paperwork. I got a letter in the mail to see a nutritionist and 10 days after that had an apportionment to see my surgeon in a month ugh. It was a long month, i would call weekly to see if they any cancellations. Finally the day came May 26Th, I talked to my surgeon all was well but he thought RNY would be best for me...i met with his nutritionist and the patient leason they all suggested i go with RNY. So I was set up with my Psycho-Eval had that 2 days later and prayed about it. Now i am just waiting for the approval and my surgery date. I am soooo excited. This site has been instrumental, everybody is amazing and so supportive.
