Almost 10 months post-op

Down 102 pounds and feel great!!  Am feeling tired lately, but most likely do to all the added stress of nursing school right now.  I could be eating a bit better, but with my schedule seems really hard sometimes.  Still keeping up with the exercise thought, which makes a huge difference.

Almost 8 months has flown by since surgery.  Down 93 pounds!!!  Unbelievable.  I feel great and finally on the outside what I've always seen on the inside.  This surgery was absolutely one of the best things I have ever done.  To all those aspiring weight-loss surgery - don't give up.  It will happen.  Take care -

Update

Aug 05, 2007

I have been really bad at updating.  I am almost 4 months post-op and have lost 67 pounds.  I feel great.  I do not regret having the surgery.  My fiancee and I just got back from a Mexico cruise.  It was wonderful.  I felt good and I looked pretty good too.  It's amazing how much better you feel 67 pounds lighter.

Doing GREAT!!!  Since I had the stricture dilated I have felt fantastic.  Down 32 pounds.  This is absolutely the best thing I've ever done.  One more week and I will be able to play squash and softball.  Looking forward to it.  I haven't gotten sick eating anything yet (of course I've only eaten what I'm supposed to...)

After one week of discomfort and vomitting, I had an endoscopy with dilation yesterday.  I had developed an early stricture. It's amazing what a few more millimeters makes.  Today I feel like a new woman.  I have been able to eat cottage cheese, yogurt, baked beans, and peanut butter.  Down 23 pounds!! Still wonder why I did this sometimes, but not as often anymore.  Especially since people are noticing weight loss.  It's definitely hard to be around food.  I am noticing now that it's everywhere and am amazed at how much I used to eat.  I have such a wonderful fiance who gives me so much support.  He has drive me to Denver, which is a 10-hour round trip three times in the last three weeks.  I love you.

So far, so good!!  Surgery went well.  No complications, except for a minor set-back with the use of morphine.  I am now getting used the the unfamiliar feelings and sounds of my new anatomy.  There have been a few times I have had buyer's remorse, but I think I am just mourning food right now.  It comes and goes though.  I have lost 16 pounds, which is really exciting.  I am totally sick of protein shakes.  I can't wait to eat pureed food.  It just looks so gross.  If anyone has any good pureed recipes, that would be GREAT!!!!

Thanks for all your support!!

The date is set for April 10th at Rose Medical Center.  I'm not having all these emotions of excitement and nervousness altogether.  I am ready though!!  Please say a prayer for me and my family.

I am still waiting for a prior-auth from BCBS of TN.  I have been cleared by a pulmunologist, cardiologist, pcp, and psychologist.  This is the most difficult time.  I am so excited and the anticipation is killin' me.  I have tried to contact the insurance specialist at the surgeon's office and have not heard anything back.  They aren't very efficient at returning phone calls.
