Woohoo! I'm so thankful I have the wisdom of all you folks to help me through my RNY! I am a 43 y/o mother of 2+2 (2 of mine, 2 of my husband's), a RN who is teaching high school Health Science Technology, and a future diva 
I have been overweight since a month after birth. Twice in my life I was within the "almost normal" weight range...after shoveling coal all summer in college and after living the Atkins life for a year to get a tummy tuck. Oh no..seems like there was also a brief time in the 6th grade. I was diagnosed with diabetes this past January and on the day of diagnosis, my doctor submitted my insurance request for gastric bypass. Lo and behold, I was approved! I had to wait for my husband to return from overseas and for school to finish before I could really get rolling. I live in a very rural area and travel several hours to my surgical site so all the pre-approval meetings have taken a while. I am in need of an on-line support group and the group from the surgeon office is too far away. From what I have read, this is just the place to be for information and encouragement!
