1st visit to Dr. this coming Monday 5/4

Apr 29, 2009

Well, it's "almost" been a month since my surgery.  I go see Dr. Inman this coming Monday.  As of this morning, I am down 32lbs.  Shocking

Body image is hard.  I've always been the big girl.! I see the numbers coming down on the scale, clothes are fitting differently and co-workers notice and say "you are melting away" or  "you are going to be skinny".  These are not words in MY vocabulary.  It will be nice to meet with my Dr. and have her tell me what my "ideal weight" is.  I have no idea what my potential is.....or how much of this "fat suit" that I can shed.

I cannot wait to do things that I've always wanted to do, or been afraid to try due to my weight.  It is great having my husband, Duane go through the same thing.  Our lives are going to be completely different and we are both looking forward to new experiences and actually "living life to the fullest" ---I've always heard people "say" that,
but I am going to DO IT!!!!!!

1st day back to work!

Apr 15, 2009

Well, today was my first day back to work (1 week and 1 day post op).  I did really well.  I was a little tired this morning and doing every "normal" task in a row.  And, I mean without taking a break to eat something or take a supplement.  I had gotten in a routine of showering, then watched some TV - then dried my hair - ate later, took a walk.  Life was at a more leisure pace.

I planned on going in and if I couldn't work the whole day, I would do part time days for the rest of the week.  But, I surprised myself.  Worked  my 8 hours PLUS and additional  hour and 1/2.  It was good to be back in my normal schedule.

Got in all my vitamins and supplements, water and protein!!  Success.
At lunch time, sat with 2 friends: one eating McDonald's and the other Papa Johns pizza.  Believe it or not, it smelled good but I had no desire to WANT it!  I will work the next 2 days and then next week, I'll be off 2 of the 5 for my husband, Duane's surgery!
Cannot wait to have us both on basically the same diet.

1 week post-op

Apr 13, 2009

Tomorrow, will officially be 1 week post-op surgery.  I am amazed at how well I feel.  I went to my husbands pre-op testing today and talked with some other bariactric patients.  When I said I just had the surgery last Tuesday, their mouths dropped open and was shocked that I was "out and about".

I will say some days are a little tougher than other days.  For example: I have never been one to be bothered by a commercial --but for whatever reason (probably because I KNOW that I cannot eat that food), things look good to me that NEVER did before.  This is where I know that it's changing the mind part that will be the thing to conquer for myself.

I am still walking daily, and as of this morning weighing myself --I am down 20lbs!
