About Me
Jun 24, 2009
Well, I think the first time I remember struggling with weight was when I was 15 yrs old and of course, wanted to look great for the boys... I've dieted on and off all my life. I didn't really have trouble until after my second child. The weight didn't want to come off and when I finally started to lose again I could never really get down all the way. Eventually I joined the military. I worked out religiously for 2 yrs and was able to get in, but my weight was still at 180lbs for my 5ft 4inch frame. Of course basic training made the pounds drop quickly but I got hurt and was told to stop all physical activity until they could figure out what was wrong. It was fibromyalgia. Within 6 months my weight went from 158lbs to 204lbs and has been steadily increasing ever since. My highest weight was 235lbs.Last week I took the leap and had the VSG done. June 19/09 with Dr. Guillermo Alvarez and Dr. Rosalez. It's been a hard surgery for me. The flight home was horrible and I slept the whole next day. Today is the first day that I feel like myself, somewhat. Hopefully I'll be back to myself pretty soon. Do I regret it? So far, no, but I really wouldn't recommend anyone having to fly a great distance afterwards. For me, I think the flights (10 hrs.) set me back in my recovery along with the fibromyalgia.
So good luck to anyone else on this journey.
