My journey actually started over a year ago when weight loss surgery was first mentioned at a doctor's appointment. I was not mentally ready to consider such a huge step so it just sat on the back burner until April 2006 when my doctor informed me I seemed to be at a point where my body was refusing to let me lose weight. I had been diagnosed with insulin resistance several years earlier and was taking 2000mg of glucophage a day and still gaining weight.
I was sent to a nutritionist and put on a weight loss program. I followed the program and still gained weight. At that point I went back to my doctor and said I was ready to get a referral for WLS.
I went to Dr. Jeffrey Lord's seminar and after hearing him speak knew immediately that I was ok with having the surgery but only if it was performed by Dr. Lord. I had my initial consultation with Dr. Lord on 1 May 06 and felt completely at ease with everything about Dr. Lord and everyone on his team. I had my surgery on 12 Jul 06 and have had no problems so far.
I thank Dr. Lord and his entire team for giving me a chance (a tool to use) to have a better and healthier life.
