I all, just wanted to say a special thanks to Sandra Lantrip for being my angel and calling on me twice. Also, wanted to say thanks to all those who posted on my site and prayed for me. They are right it gets better with each passing day... Surgery started on Monday 10/22/01 @ 7:30 am There were surgical complications and Dr had to hand stitch instead of staple one of the small bowel attachments. That meant I was under anesthesia for 5 hours. Thank God that Dr Kligman didn't decide to open me up at that point... Then when I got to recovery I was there until 7:30 pm because they were waiting on a room for me. They had problems with my heart rate stabilizing so Dr increased morphine and IV fluids. I was up and walking (EVER SO SLOWLY) by the next morning (Tuesday) actually Dr Kligman got me up and going. The biggest obstacle for me was the post op barium test on Tuesday evening about 4:30 PM. That is when my bladder caught up to the fact that the catherter had been taken out. I had to use the restroom before and after the procedure. The ride to x-ray on the guerny was VERY BUMPY. When I got back to my room I ended up throwing up the barium. Because my leak test was done so late I didn't get discharged from the hospital until Wednesday morning. Got home about 12:15 pm. The ride home helped to loosen up all the gas in my system. It was good to finally be at home. On Wednesday evening we had a power failure do to a storm and had no electricity from 7:40 pm until 12:00 midnight. Will close for now. I will write more later about my surgical update. So glad there were no leaks and no infections thus far...

I spoke with Rose today and she said that she was sore, but doing ok. She said that they had trouble with the staples, so they had to use some stitches instead and that the surgery took a little longer than expected. She sounded good and I sure hope she feels better tomorrow. Congratulations Rose. I'm so glad that you finally had your surgery and you're on your way to your wonderful new life :-) Love Ya...Momma Sandy
