The Gym
May 03, 2010
So I started going to the gym three weeks after surgery and have been lifting weights and riding the bicycle. To date I'm riding two miles on the stationary bike and am able to do 50 reps of 130lb leg presses in addition to lifting 50lbs with the reps on my arms on about 5 different machines. Don't want bat wings!

12 Days Post Op
Apr 04, 2010
So the first week after surgery I didn't feel like doing much but sitting or lying down. On about the 5th day I actually felt like getting up and doing stuff. Mind you that first week I did get up and walk to work out some of those nasty gasses that they pump you with in surgery. I had those for about 8 days. Bah!
On my liquid diet (2 weeks before surgery), I lost 17 pounds. I am now at day 12 and have lost a total of 30.
I didn't get stiches, only glue and that has all pretty much worn off now and my incisions (5 in all) look pretty good.
So far, no regrets.

The surgery center called today
Jan 12, 2010
To tell me that they called and verified with United Healthcare that "when" I'm approved (I refuse to say "if") for the lap band that it will be covered 100%. Woo Hoo!!!! A light for my day. She also told me that they didn't require a 6 month diet prior to approval. So far so good.

My First Post
Jan 12, 2010
Well effective the first of the year my insurance has been switched to United Healthcare so that I can get my procedure covered 100%. So first thing on January 4th I called the surgery center to find out what "I" have to do to get this ball rolling. My goal is to get all of my appointments (Dr, psychologist) out of the way and done with in this month and I am half way there. I have my psychologist appointment on January 22 and my primary care on January 25th.
