Well, I lost the 5 pounds I needed to lose to have the surgery but there was a little unexpected mishap along the way......On Feb. 17th I had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital. I had a triple bypass on the 19th and everything went well. I am now out of the running for the WLS now. I will have to wait at least 2 years before I can have that but that's O.K.cuz at least I'm still here and that is the important thing. I will not be on the boards as much for a while but will stay in touch with a few people just to keep an eye on a few of you

I met Dr. Carlin today and just loved him! He is so caring. He made me feel really comfortable...and I liked that. I go back to see the exercise specialist  on the 28th of feb as well as see the medical clearance Dr. Then I see Dr. Carlin again on the 9th of March to schedule surgery. I am getting pretty excited now. I have to lose 5 pounds before surgery and then it's all a go !! Yay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, the dietican/nurse consult went good. Wanda and Annette are both wonderful. Didn't learn anything new but that just means that my research has been very thorough...right? Anyway I have my surgeon consult next week with Dr. Carlin...I hear great things about him. Wanda said that I should be looking at about 6-8 weeks before surgery...whooo hoooo can't wait. Lots to do yet

I received my paperwork from HF today. Lots to do in the next 6 weeks before my dietician / nurse consultation. I have to write a letter of intent, a stress test, cardiac clearance and a sleep study, along with my physical. I couldn't have any of this done before this due to my ins. co. having to give me the go ahead first...so I need to bust my a-- and get going.

I have my first meeting to get the ball rolling ! Finally got final approval from ins. co. so I made my meeting with Wanda and the dietician, only problem is I can't get that until Feb 6th. After that, a meeting with the surgeon and if he says everything is O.K. then surgery will be scheduled. Yay ! 
I also received a message from the sweetest lady I have met yet on the boards. Her name is Stacey W. and she has offered to be my angel! Yep, I am as excited about that as I am about the final approval from the ins. co. Stacey has helped me so much in answering any question I've had and she is the one who told me not to stop after my first attempt. She told me to appeal and after that was denied, I was gonna give up but she told me to write a grievance. Well I wrote that grievance and finally.....they agreed. Thanks Stacey for making me stick with it.

I got the letter from my insurance co. today saying I am approed for my surgery...yay!! Now I just have to see the surgeon and the nutritionist, then some lab work and a date. I am so ready, I want to sit on the losers bench with everyone else.

talked to insurance co. yesterday and they say there may be a letter in the mail by the end of the week with authorization in it....Damn I hope so ! I have been given the big run around on this for some time now.I already have the letter saying that they will approve my surgery pending psych. eval. pass, which I did in August, and passed ! The problem now is getting the results to the ins. co........they seem to have lost them...yeah right. Wish me luck
