Been Gone for A While - Back for Good!

Nov 07, 2009

I was doing great with my band, but then I got pregnant.  I had my baby on May 15th 2009.  She is wonderful.
During the pregnancy, I wasn't able to get any fills.  I had no restriction, and I ended up gaining all of my weight back.  I went for my first fill post pregnancy only to find out that my port had flipped.  I had surgery on October 20th 2009 to fix the port positioning.  I think I only  have .3cc in my 4 cc band.  I am needing a fill in a major way.  I can't go back until the beginning of December.  I hope to get a substantial fill and get back to losing again.   This band is a big help, and I need to be utilizing to the best of my ability.

1.6CCs in 4CC band

Mar 06, 2008

I have had another fill, and it was done under flouroscopy as well.  This time was much better and I wasn't as nervous about it as the first one.  He injected .6 cc in my band for a grand total of 1.6cc.

I can tell a huge difference in the way food feels in my chest after I swallow.  I have to really be paying attention to my eating habits - slowing down and CHEWING thouroughly.    I am going to give it a few weeks and see where I am at then.  I  may need to go back and get a tweak soon.

First Fill - Didn't work and Extremely painful

Nov 29, 2007

My first fill was an awful experience.  I can't even really say it was a fill.  Dr. Kaza left the office becasue he was feeling sick.  When I arrived, he had already left.  The other surgeon did the fill for me.   I was numbed with lidocaine.   The insertion of the needle did not hurt.  What hurt was him jabbing the needle around trying to find the port.  After 4 sticks and me crying in pain, he stopped.  He told me that it would have to be done under flouroscopy.

I pray that this next try will work.  I was very disappointed with the pain I had to go through and more importantly, I didn't get the fill that I was needing.
UURRGGG!

1st Support Group Event

Nov 08, 2007

Dr. Kaza's office has started a support group for lapband patients.   I attended last night, and  I am really glad that I went.

FINALLY, Under 300lbs.

Nov 03, 2007

Well, today I weighed in at 298.6lbs.  What an accomplishment for myself.  I have not seen the 200s in close to 5 years.  The band is working well.  I am staying physically active by walking.  I ocassionally will do a little jog  during my walks too.  I think I will start running eventually.  I just have to lose some more first.

I love my band!!!!

Almost out of the 300s

Oct 30, 2007

I am nearing the 299 mark.  YEAH!  I can't wait to see the 200s again.
I go back Nov. 5th for my next dr. appointment.  I guess at that appointment I will be placed back onto regular/solid foods.  I am nervous about it too.  I am dreading my first "stuck" moment.  I know it will happen one day, and I am assuming it will happen when I start trying different foods.

1st Post -Op appointment

Oct 15, 2007

I met with my surgeon today for my first post op appointment.  They weighted me, and I had lost 8lbs since the day of surgery.  I was thrilled!!   He also said that I could go on and start the mushy stage.  I am feeling a little hesitation about it.  I have not had any issues thus far with nausea/vomitting.  I don't want to screw up by not getting something at the right consistency.  I bought a food processor today to help with preparing foods the way I need them to be.  Avoiding any and all problems is so important to me.

I have one more day off from work.  I am looking forward to resting up and not doing much of anything.  :)

4 Days Post op

Oct 12, 2007

Well, I am 4 days out, and I am still really sore.  I am proud of myself, that I was brave enough to undergo surgery to regain my health.  I can't wait to see where I am in 1 year.  I hope to be near 80 to 90 lbs lost when at that time.  If not, I will take whatever my body gives me.

I am quite sore, but it is not as bad as it was a few days ago. Yesterday I needed no pain medications.  That is a great improvement.  Sleeping is still not as comfortable as I hoped it would be.  It will all be better in due time.

I can't wait to start seeing my results.

OK, IT IS FINALLY ALMOST TIME

Oct 08, 2007

I am ready for tomorrow. It is finally almost here.  I have to be at the Hospital in the morning at 5:00am.  They tell me that I will probably be back in the OR at around 6:15 and then out of surgery in around and hour or so.  My dear husband, Jeffrey, is going with me.  He is my major support system through all of this.   I know that he is ready for me to be happy and healthy again in so many different ways.  I know that I sure am.  I can't wait to see the transformations that will come about as I begin to lose this weight.  I often feel like I am locked in a cage with a key, but the key doesn't work.

Tomorrow is my big day, and maybe when I come out of surgery I will feel like it is my "re-birth" to the beginning of a new me.   I am going to make sure that I jam pack my 30s with lots of family activities and enjoy life.

Getting Excited!!

Sep 26, 2007

Well, the old clock is ticking away!  I go on October 1st, which is less than a week away, to talk to the surgeon.  My surgery is on October 9th.  I will be getting instructions on what diet changes I must make for the next couple of days before my actual surgery.  I also have pre-op appointment at Hardin Memorial with the anesthesiologist.  I have to have blood work done too.

I can't believe that this is actually going to happen!!!
