I was skinny for most of my life. In high school and college I was about 115 pounds, up to 125 by the time I got married. My parents were European and I didn't know what sugar or peanut butter were until I was old enough to leave home. My family are all slim, and although I was 115 pounds I was nicknamed "Dumpster Butt". A cookie in my house was a saltine cracker! I was active, on the gymnastics team in high school, and rode my bike everywhere. I started putting on the weight after my first baby, twenty-two years ago. I still wasn't fat, but I was slowly putting it on. After my second baby I was about 150, then with my third I actually gained weight after delivering him. All my babies were huge nine pounders - dad is 6'6'' and 250, and they were voracious breastfeeders. I was hungry all the time. I really started to get big when I retired and stayed home with the kids. That was ten years ago. I also used to be a closet smoker and giving that up also put on some pounds. I've tried all the diets and that really made me gain weight when I failed and felt guilty and miserable. Now I'm here because I am just too damn young to keel over from a heart attack. My joints are SO sore by the end of the day. I can't imagine what I'll be feeling like in ten years if I don't address this situation now. My poor feet are so fat that I actually feel bad for them! Everyone in my family, kids, hubbie, parents, sister, and friends are so supportive of my decision to do this. I have been approved and now just need to hear from Kim Gordon at Dr. V's about the date. Wish me luck!
