My story is nothing exciting. I have been overweight, probably obese, since I was a kid. My pediatrician put me on a diet when I was eight years old. My mother, thank God, didn't have the heart to force me to stay on it for very long. She couldn't bear to force me to eat dry tuna when all the other kids had pb&j's. My mom actually made sure that we all ate healthy, but to no avail...I was fat. I tried and tried to get this weight off, like every other fat person...I HATE BEING FAT. Anyway I went to doctor after doctor trying to find out why I couldn't loose this weight, why I hit a wall after 30 pounds, but, as most fat people know, they were no help. "Loose the weight and you will feel better" Really genious? Good thing I called you. Yeah, I am bitter...I'm working on it.
So finally I get diagnosed wit PCOS, and I think to myself "yes! finally I am going to get some help!" Well, I refuse to take birth control, because talk about dangerous! So I go on metformin...blah, blah, blah...two years later and I have managed to loose twenty pounds.
So, I decided to see another endochrine doc, for a second opinion, and he suggests gastrric bypass and gives me the names of two docs from two local hospitals. So I called and found a winner! Actually this place is great, synergy bariatrics, and now I am on my way.
I have taken my seminars, filled out all my paperwork, got an endoscopy, and meet with my general doc, endochrine doc, and go for my psych eval all in the last week of August. From there it is a matter of meeting with the surgeon, getting a date, and.....(drumroll) INSURANCE APPROVAL. I say that sarcastically because they are ridiculous, you know?
ANYWAY...now I am just waiting to wait! I get really impatient but I figure I have been on a diet for like 26 years, so I can handle a few more months.
Well, I can't wait to get to know everyone and look forward to being part of the community. Much love...
