(4-25-08)  It's been awhile since I've updated.  I'm down a total of 53 lbs since my highest over the holidays.  I'm exercising 6 out of 7 days a week - either walking about 3 miles or going to the gym to get 45 minutes of eliptical in.  I have had no complications since surgery and have only thrown up (due to eating too fast), 3 times and had one bout of dumping (due to peanut butter on saltines).  It's been easy to get frustrated when the scale doesn't budge much (plateaus), but I'm just staying the course and know my body is adjusting.  The plateau always breaks and before I know it 5 more lbs are gone nearly overnight.

(2-21-08)  Had post-op visit yesterday and the drain and staples were removed.  It feels great to have the drain GONE, lol.  Doc says to continue to walk, walk, walk..... and push protein.  Next appointment is in one month, 3-26-08.

(2-14-08) Had my RNY surgery just four days ago, on 2-11.  I was discharged from the hospital last night.  All went well, actually the surgery and this recovery stage I'm in now are going much better than I ever imagined.  It's been awsome seeing all my blood sugar readings in the normal range and my blood pressure in the good range, ALREADY!!  I've been taken off all my diabetes meds.  My stomach is sore, which is to be expected.... but it does get better every day.  I feel best when I'm walking.

(2-9-08)  Just 2 more days....  can't wait to get the surgery behind me and be on the other 'recovering/losing' side.  I've been perfect on the liquid diet that I started back on Monday, 1-28, down about 14 lbs.  Haven't been hungry at all.  The first 3 days were a little hard, but not too bad...  the worst part was the headache that accompanied.    My pre-surgery BMI is 47.8.

(1-31-08)  Had pre-op visit at hospital this morning - it went very smoothly.  I've also completed 4 successful days on the liquid diet...    just 11 more days till surgery!

(1-27-08)  Okay, I am so ready for this!  I usually shy away from full-body shots, but tonight had some 'before' pictures taken (front, side and back views).  I knew I needed to get a lot of weight off - but goodness - I've been in denial even recently - guess I didn't realize I look as heavy as I do.

I begin the 2 week liquid diet tomorrow, it's a requirement my physician has for the 2 weeks prior to surgery.

(1-26-08)     I'm impressed -  paperwork was turned in to my insurance company on Thurs 1-24 and it was approved the very next day!   I'm good to go for RNY surgery on Feb 11th.  I begin the two-week liquid diet in 2 days.
