I have been battling the bulge since highschool.  I dieted and exercised and would lose 20 or 30 pounds, only to put it back on.... I had two children in my 20's and just couldn't seem to get the weight off and keep it off.  I had endocrine problems, pcos, insulin resistance, hypertension etc... I'm sure some of you are familiar with these ongoing problems that make it extremely difficult to lose weight, even though you may not be a big eater and you get some exercise... it just seemed I was gonna be big forever.  I would walk by the bakery or deli at the grocery store and gain 5 lbs.

Until, a co-worker of mines had the surgery, I started really looking into the gastric bypass surgery.  I began to research, and ask questions.  She told me the insurance company paid 100%.  She began to tell me about her doctor and experience until she finally sold me on it, but I was not overly anxious to go forward.  So, I waited.... and went to the seminar in November 2007.

They had everything in place at the seminar to get seen by the surgeon (Dr. Nilesh Patel), the Nutritionist, and the Psychologist.  And, because I had my 5 year weight history with me and co-morbidity proof, I was approved for surgery within 3-4 short weeks.  I actually had surgery on a Sunday 12/30/07, and I weighed 264 lbs.  My surgeon did a special surgery that day for those who had met their deductibles and who didn't want to enter a "New Year" the same as before.  Wow, new years eve was quite different this past year.  However, this New Years, "I will" be quite different!!!
