4 Years Post-OP...All Is Well!

It's my 4 yr. Surgiversary. I am below goal. Last year I was about 10 pounds heavier. I am a firm believer that our DS works as long as we are willing to work it! My labs are good, I feel good and my life has taken an abosolute turn in the right direction!. I am SO thankful for the friends I have met along the way....You make me what I am today...Love to you all, and thanks so much for all of the love and the support throughout the years! I truly and sincerely LOVE my DS!

2 Year WLS Update & 14 weeks Post-op Arms & Thigh Lift

I can hardly believe that it's been 2 years since having my DS. The time has literally flown by. I've done many updates over the course of the past 2 years so I'll keep it brief. My starting weight was 263 lbs. and this morning I weighed 137. My happy place is bouncing between 136-140 and I'm perfectly content in that range. I'm also 14 weeks post-op from my arm and inner thigh lift. I've had no complications related to those procedures and I've healed nicely.
I love being a part of these boards and I'm just amazed at the number of people finding out about and having the DS compared to when I first started my research. I remember when it would take a couple of days to fill up one page on the DS Board. It's great to see this wonderful surgery becoming more of the main stream and being able to share in the success of so many others just like me.
Thanks for all of the support and friendship that I've encountered along the way. You guys are truly family to me. I LOVE MY DS!

4 Weeks Post-Op Brachioplasty and Inner Thigh Lift

These are some pictures...before and 4 weeks after from my arm and inner thigh lift. I'm still a little bruised from the liposuction but healing is going well. My arms are still sore but they are getting better. I know the scars will continue to fade over time. Overall, I am very happy with my results. I feel like I have to explain the odd tan lines in the last thigh picture. My tan is very uneven from sitting in a lawn chair and not getting near enough on the backs of my legs. I know, it looks really strange...LOL

Final Update on Mom, She Is At Peace.

Mother passed away peacefully Friday night 3/13/09 around 7:10. I was holding her and comforting her and told her it was okay for her to go. She drifted off without a struggle. I prayed that she wouldn't have a long time of suffering and I feel my prayers were answered. She passed away literally 2 weeks after meeting with the oncologist. I miss her terribly and my heart is broken.
We're having her service Tuesday and all of her children, grand-children and most of her great-grand-children will be present. I promised an update and I again wanted to say thank you for all of the love and support that has been shown to me during this difficult time. I hope to be back around more in the weeks to come.

Making Goal and An Update on My Mother

First off, the good news. I stepped on the scale this morning after a weekend of nothing but fast food and quite a few extra carbs and was thrilled to see 150 lbs. I am so comfortable at this weight and hope that I can maintain here.
An update on my mother. As some of you know she has terminal liver cancer. She is taking a steady decline as each day passes. We have tried to keep her at home but it's proving to be very difficult. I am her primary caregiver with the help of my wonderful husband, but we both have jobs and there are times she is left alone. The time has come for her to have 24 hr. care. We are looking into moving her to a hospice house. So far she has had very little pain but a lot of discomfort and overall she has absolutely no strength.
I try to check the boards when I get a few spare minutes but most of my time is spent her when I'm not working and there is no internet at her home. I think of you all and hope all is well. I'll catch up with you all again as soon as I can. Thank you for all of the kind words of support.

Yesterday was my 1 year surgiversary. It was fun to reminisce with my DH about all of the experiences of being so far away from home in a town that I knew absolutely nothing about. A place where I knew not one person. I recovered in a hotel room alone and was so terribly homesick. I did make it to a support group meeting and out to dinner and had the opportunity to meet some great people. Elizabeth N. and Christina were there as I was just getting started on this wild ride.
I remember watching Elizabeth eat her dinner and she told me "This time next year you'll be able to eat like this too!" I was barely sipping on some soup at 9 nine days post-op and thought to myself yeah, right...LOL Well, she was absolutely right. I can eat anything I want to now and in most cases you would never know that I had WLS.
I lost one more pound this past month and seem to be settling in at this weight. I'm wearing size 6 pants down from a 22. My current weight is 154. This has been a remarkable year for me. My co-morbidities were resolved within the first few months and my energy level is unbelievable.
I could go on and on but the bottom line is I LOVE MY DS and all of the love and support I have found here. What a difference a year makes!!

11 Month Update

Hi Guys!
Well another month has clicked by and I was 11 months out as of yesterday. I lost an additional 6 lbs. this past month and that brings my total loss to 108 pounds. I'm wearing size 6 jeans in this picture. I'm crammed in them but I'm claiming them...LOL
Life is good for me and I count my blessings every day. The DS has given me so much to be thankful for. I had forgotten just how good it feels to be "normal". I feel like I blend in to the world around me and it's an amazing feeling. I've had no complications and my labs have been holding steady in the good ranges.
The DS is the best gift I have ever given myself and I have absolutely no regrets. Thank you all for your support and encouragement!

Hi Guys,
I too feel like a broken record and these months just seem to be flying by, but here I am with a quick update. I know as a pre-op and even now, I draw a lot of encouragement and inspiration from seeing the progress of those that have gone before me.
It's been 10 months since my surgery. I lost some additional weight this month bringing my total lost to 102 lbs. I currently weigh 161. I'm wearing size 8 jeans and a large top. Some days I just have to pinch myself to really believe it is true.
My new job is going great and life is really good! I know I have said it before but the DS has been like magic for me. Thanks as always for all of your support and friendships. It means the world to me!

Hi Guys!
Yesterday marked the 9th month since surgery. I lost 4 pounds this past month bringing my total weight loss to 96 pounds. I am slowly but surely approaching that Century Club!
I weigh 167 pounds and I'm wearing size 10 jeans and might be trying on some 8's soon. It feels so weird to even say that. I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen for me.
I will be having labs drawn next week and am anxious to see my levels. I feel great and I have never once regretted having my DS. I miss being around the boards like I was since returning to work. I try to sign on every night and get caught up. As always, thank you all for your support and encouragement, but most of all for your wonderful advice that has guided me all along. I love you guys and my DS!! This picture was taken this afternoon.
